I have coronary disease and had stents put into my arteries 15 years ago, but was now needing a heart bypass due to blocked arteries. I was very apprehensive about having this surgery because of the risks involved and also the additional worry of the Covid 19 pandemic, so this decision was not an easy one to make and I almost decided against having the surgery. In the end I made the decision to go through with this surgery following a consultation with the surgeon and speaking to a couple of family members who have also had the same surgery. A few days out of hospital post surgery I am so grateful to my surgeon and the team at St. George’s for the wonderful care that I received and am happy that I made the decision to go though with this surgery so that I can continue to live an active and healthy lifestyle without worrying about my heart. The hospital is now COVID free and so thankfully this was one less thing to worry about. I would highly recommend Mr. Aziz and his team at St. George’s in Tooting as well as the nurses and other key workers that made this operation and quick recovery such a success. If you are in a position of uncertainty about having this surgery, rest assured that now is as good a time as any, if not more so, to go ahead and have this life saving procedure.

I am extremely grateful to Aziz Momin for the care and compassion shown when I was referred to him by East Surrey Cardiology for a triple heart bypass. He was able to see me at East Surrey on a Friday the week following my angiogram and he arranged for admission to St Anthonys on the Monday for the op on Tuesday! He took great care to explain the procedure beforehand and visited me at every stage of the process, which inspired confidence, well founded as all went according to plan, other than finding that I only (!) needed a double bypass in the event. I am home in the midst of the coronavirus emergency and self isolating on his instructions, which included a phone call to check how I'm doing...thank you again.

I was originally booked in for an angiogram at Royal Surrey Country Hospital but the procedure identified serious vessel disease requiring an urgent need for a coronary artery bypass graft. Dr Momin scheduled me for surgery and a week later performed a triple bypass on me in a six-hour operation at St.George's Hospital. He thoroughly explained the procedure and all the associated risks beforehand, taking time to ensure me that this was a routine procedure. Following the operation he spoke to my wife and assured her that all went well. He visited me regularly over the following days and was very keen on getting me home and back to normal as soon as possible. The operation wounds are less than expected and very neatly stitched. I was back home in four days but unfortunately due to a low blood pressure problem, possibly as a result of nutritional issues during my time at St George's, I was taken to Royal Surrey County Hospital for observation and tests and remained there for a further 5 days. I am now recovering well.

I saw Mr Momin today and cannot praise him highly enough. He was very thorough in his explanations of the upcoming procedure, was extremely attentive to my questions and totally put me at ease throughout our appointment. Mr Momin is a complete credit to the NHS, I would recommend him to anyone without hesitation.

I was referred to Mr Momin by my local Cardiologist Dr Kaba. Together they proposed the Hybrid AF ablation. I accepted the proposal and underwent the procedure in May 2019. The hospital experience was really good with attentive nursing and pleasant surroundings. The anesthetist explained his procedure and we then proceed. I woke to find 3 neat incisions in my belly. No huge discomfort and discharged 36 hours after admission. 6 week recovery.6 month follow up appointment and discharged. All done with the minimum of fuss. Feeling great and all the signs are good.Mr Momin certainly knows his stuff and he runs a tight team. If you are suffering from AF and are in sinus rhythm after cardio version this is they way to go.Many thanks to all at Atkinson Morley Wing.
