I have been treated and cared for by Mr Agrawal since 2020, throughout my breast cancer diagnosis, surgery, and reconstruction at QA Hospital in Portsmouth. He is always welcoming, friendly and approachable. I feel I can talk to him and ask him questions which he will take the time to answer. It takes some of the stress and apprehension away going to yet another appointment knowing I am going to see him.

From the difficult times of confirming my breast cancer to the happy 1 year clear check up Mr Agrawal has been outstanding in every single way. Mr Agrawal is a superb professional that made me feel at ease from day one, I knew the operation and follow up was going to be a success. He has tons of experience and I knew I was being cared for the best surgeon. He performed a flawless tumour removal and re arranged the tissue in a way that is hardly noticeable. I would recommend Mr Agrawal 100%, he is meticulous, organised, super professional and a lovely person!

Since the first moment I came under Mr Agrawal’s care, first at QA, then at the Spire Hospital, I have had total confidence in him as a surgeon and as a highly qualified and committed and caring doctor. He has explained so clearly what is occurring each time we meet, answered all my questions openly and explained all the options available to me. He evaluates all the possible risks, and presents all the possible outcomes. It is very reassuring to be looked after by someone so open and straightforward. The surgery he performed on me resulted in much less noticeable detriment than I was expecting, so I'm thrilled about that! I’m still in the middle of this journey, and don’t yet know for certain what course it will take, but I know I’m in the best possible hands with Mr Agrawal.

I have seen Mr Agrawal for a number of appointments pre and postop for my mastectomy surgery. On all occasions I have never felt rushed and he answered all my queries and concerns. I am absolutely delighted with my mastectomy for symmetry. It looks like my other side that I had operated on for breast cancer. I would have no hesitation in recommending Mr Agrawal to any patient who needed to have breast surgery. You will feel you are in safe hands. His nurse Gwen is also amazing and supportive .

Mr Agrawal has been a calming professional influence throughout my breast cancer surgery and ongoing care. He took particular care to minimise scarring on my breast and underarm and to maintain the integrity of my breast and was highly communicative and reassuring at all stages. I would not hesitate to recommend him and am so pleased that I decided to ask him to care for me.

Profile

As a fully trained Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon, I carry out regular diagnostic fast track breast clinics and a full range of breast surgery, including sentinel node biopsy with intra-operative analysis, oncoplastic surgery and breast reconstruction. I also have a special interest in and undertake surgery for skin cancer.

I graduated from the London Hospital Medical College, University of London. My general surgical training was based around several centres of excellence in managing breast diseases, including The Royal Marsden Hospital where I developed oncoplastic techniques to optimise the cosmetic outcome of breast surgery.

I have always been interested in cancer surgery, and as part of my higher surgical training at the University College London, I was awarded a master's degree for my research into Gene Therapy for the prevention and treatment of cancer.

In 2007 I was appointed Consultant Surgeon at Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust. I have been the Clinical Lead/Head of department for the Breast and Endocrine Surgery and Surgical Oncology department for Portsmouth for over 10 years. I have also chaired and lead the Breast Multidisciplinary Team at Queen Alexandra Hospital for over 7 years.
I am the Surgical Lead for breast screening cancers and also the Joint Regional Lead for breast cancer for Wessex. I am the Lead Trainer for the Portsmouth National Oncoplastic Fellowship Program and have helped many trainees develop their skills for their consultant career.
