I have nothing but positive comments to write about Mr Malik. I have suffered with a pain in my hip for the past 15 years. It has been consistently diagnosed as bursitis. Over the 15 years I have had MRI scans, ultrasound scans, steroid injections, acupuncture, physiotherapy. I have lost count of the number of doctors, consultants and appointments I have had which finally ended in December 2015 with a bursectomy operation. None of the treatments, including the removal of the bursar, led to any improvement. It hurt to walk, it hurt to jump, I couldn’t run without pain, sometimes it would spontaneously just hurt and go into spasm. I am an active person who enjoys exercise, I have 2 young children and I am a swimming teacher so need to be fully fit to enjoy all these parts of my life. The consultant who removed my bursar signed me off in 2017 as having to "admit defeat" and I accepted that I would have to live with this pain. However, in June 2019 I decided to get a second opinion and thank goodness I did. I met with Mr Malik and immediately felt comfortable. We discussed my history and after he examined me he diagnosed a bulging nerve. He doesn't think I ever had trouble with my bursar - my bulging nerve just happened to be in the same place as the bursar hence the misdiagnosis for so many years. Mr Malik explained that he could perform an operation to try to remove the nerve but was quite clear that there was only a 50% of success. I decided to give it a go and paid to go privately. The operation was done within 3 weeks of my first appointment and I am thrilled that the genius that is Mr Malik found the right nerve, removed it and now I am pain free. I can not describe how lovely it is to walk without pain, to be able to lie on my right hand side, to be able to wear skinny jeans and not feel pressure and pain on my hip, to be able to run with my kids in the park and to be able to do whatever exercise I want to in the gym. And this is just early days! I would not hesitate to recommend Mr Malik to anyone - he is a lovely man and a fabulous orthopaedic doctor. Thank you for giving me my life back.
