The doctor had digested my case before inviting me in and clearly knew his field. I couldn’t say he was unfriendly or unsympathetic but he seemed preoccupied with the decision he needed to make as to what to do next. That said, I appreciate that the position is not clear-cut. Overall, he seemed concerned with the technical issues rather than with engaging with me. He did answer my questions but his responses were short and did not invite further discussion. As it happened, my wife also had an outpatients visit (to another hospital) yesterday and the contrast with the manner of the doctor she saw there was quite stark.
