Had emergency spinal surgery after visit to A&E. a scary experience but could not have had a better experience. Everything was explained to me and my fears and anxiety were eased with kindness, information that I could understand and being made to feel like I was getting the best treatment, by the best surgeon and team. After surgery everything that had happened was explained to me again and my recovery has been well managed and monitored. I cannot recommend Mr Ashok Sridhara Subramanian highly enough.

Mr Subramanian talked me through different options especially when things kept changing and kept ringing to check in with me whilst I was waiting for the surgery which I really appreciated. I was very anxious about having spinal surgery but he put me at ease. My only negatives are not towards him but the registrar I saw on the day of my operation and the following morning who gave contradictory recovery advice to Mr Subramanian which was quite confusing, and the care I received following surgery in the hospital.

Mr Subramanian had been highly recommended to me, but it was proving impossible to see him face face via NHS. As my condition & mobility was worsening I arranged a consultation at The Nuffield Taunton. He listed & noted all previous history of my problem, he answered all my questions and I was shown all scans. I was advised comprehensively of my options. I felt very confident to proceed with a spinal block & steroid injections to help accurately diagnose the site & cause of the pain. After the procedure done as a day patient, I awoke with no symptoms at all. All discomfort had gone. I am aware this may be purely temporary, and this was discussed at my follow up appointment. I may very well ultimately need surgical intervention. But there is no doubt, I would use no one else but Mr Ashok Subramanian. My referee had told me “you will be in good hands”, and I believe I am. Thankyou. Ps this is the second questionnaire I have filed as I am not certain the first one went to the accurate email.

“You’ll be in safe hands” I was told by a reliable source if I went to Mr Subramanian to get help and advice for spinal condition causing intense pain and deteriorating mobility. That proved difficult to accomplish via NHS route so I ultimately decided to arrange a private consultation. I am so glad I did take that advice! At my consultation all medical history leading to the problems was noted. All Scans were shown to me on screen and explained. All questions were answered precisely, clearly and patiently. The way to diagnose and pinpoint the exact cause of the problem was explained, and the possible outcomes discussed. I felt satisfied & confident enough by Mr Subramanian’s expertise to proceed with a spinal block and steroid injections in facet joints. The procedure was done as a day patient, with Mr Subramanian visiting me beforehand to explain exactly what would occur. I felt no discomfort at all and received first class care & attention at every stage. The results of the procedure were obvious the moment I came round. ALL the chronic pain had disappeared completely. It was quite astonishing. I am aware this may not continue, but it has certainly pinpointed exactly where the problem lies and shown me that all the stiffness and aches in other parts of my body were indeed due to impingement of the nerves at around L4/5. The improvement in the quality of my daily life is remarkable, making me realise now had bad it had insidiously become over the past 18 months. At my follow up discussion today, we discussed the improvements and also the way forward should the injections wear off in time. I was shown CT scans taken during the procedure and given explanations. Once again all questions were addressed satisfactorily. I was given choices if and when I would like a further follow up appointment. Hopefully I won’t need further treatment, but it is quite likely and therefore I’m in no doubt that it will be Mr Subramanian who I will turn to be my surgeon. My grateful thanks to him.

I was lucky enough to have Mr Subramanian perform emergency surgery on me after having Cauda Equina Syndrome. Throughout my experience with him, he has been open and honest with me about the situation, but always remaining calm and considerate. Mr Subramanian came to see me prior and post surgery, as well as seeing me 6 weeks for a check up, where he showed me exactly what had happened. He allowed me to speak and ask questions, and didn't make me feel like I was wasting his time. He has an excellent bedside manner, was really respectful and a good sense of humour. I wouldn't want anyone to go through what I did, but if they did, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Mr Subramanian and his team.
