It's now 6 months to the day since my Total Hip Replacement surgery. I was first diagnosed with moderate to severe arthritis in my left hip back in 2012, some 9 years ago.. I persevered with the difficulties it was increasingly causing me in my everyday life, mainly because I was scared of the thought of surgery. I eventually made the decision to seek professional advice again late in 2020. I thought I’d seek help and advice from a Rheumatologist first, trying anything that wouldn’t involve surgery. He took X-rays and told me that unfortunately the only solution was surgery, he recommended Mr Imbuldeniya. I did my research online on the handful of surgeons that BUPA had suggested, Mr Imbuldeniya was one of them. I was impressed with the amount of Hip Replacements that Mr Imbuldeniya does in a year so I knew he was an experienced surgeon. I had my appointment with Mr Imbuldeniya and was immediately impressed with his confidence and expertise. I was still very worried and delayed the suggested surgery date until after Christmas 2020, I finally settled for 11th January 2021. Still very concerned about the surgery especially as we were heading into another spike in the COVID crisis, I resigned myself to put myself in the professional hands of Mr Imbuldeniya and his team. On the day of the surgery everything was explained to me and I was treated exceptionally well by everybody involved in my case. Mr Imbuldeniya came to my room to put me at ease and explain what I needed to know and asked if I had any questions. Then the Anaesthetist visited me, again to make me feel at ease. The whole procedure went to plan and I woke up feeling so relieved that I had actually gone through with it, and now all I had to do was to recover. Six months on, I've long finished my Physiotherapy, but I still do my exercises 5 mornings a week. I feel great, I cycle, I swim, I go to the gym and I'm walking 10,000 plus steps a day at weekends. I no longer walk with a limp and I can actually feel that my legs are both the same length, such a nice feeling after putting up with my damaged hip for so many years. looking back I wish that I'd done it earlier, the whole experience has been a total success and I'm so happy with the outcome.

Dear Mr Imbuldeniya and Team and all at West Mid. Hospital, Thank you all very much indeed for your kind care and help - hugely appreciated! Very well done, the dear old NHS - again!!! Please keep going! With thanks and best wishes from Peter and Katharine Makower. (C213720) P.S. The only improvement to the NHS, which so far I have totally failed to achieve, would be the availability on prescription of chocolate truffles. But I keep hoping.

I'd had many years of knee pain, developed a limp resulting in hip pain and could not walk long distances or stand for long periods . In 2019 I was referred to Mr. Imbuldeniya for a total knee replacement. At my first appointment the procedure was explained to me and I was added to the waiting list. Later I attended a physiotherapy session and was taught exercises to do pre and post surgery. My knee replacement was done under spinal block and after a night on the ward and a lesson on how to walk with crutches I went home in the afternoon. 8 weeks later I was back at work. That was a year ago. I can now walk miles without pain and have no limp or hip pain. I am very pleased with the result from my knee replacement and had excellent care from all the staff I met in theatre, the ward and physiotherapy department. Mr, Imbuldeniya is very approachable, provides excellent advice and explanation and has done a great job. My quality of life is so much better and I feel very lucky to have been looked after by him.

I am a 63-year old man who is enjoying a new lease of life thanks to Mr Imbuldeniya and his wonderful team, and I cannot recommend him highly enough to anyone needing orthopaedic treatment. I had two hips replaced by Mr Imbuldeniya and colleagues, one in November 2018 and one in October 2019, as I had severe arthritis and was in pain, with limited mobility. But that was just the start. Shortly after my second hip was replaced, I had a fall and smashed my hip replacement and broke my leg. Mr Imbuldenya and his team carried out complicated revision surgery to put things right, including putting in some major hardware to hold my leg together. After that I contracted an infection and was hospitalised again and put on intravenous antibiotics. Coinciding with this I also suffered a severe mental health breakdown, brought on by the infection and the stress of everything. It was not a good time. My relationship came to an end because my then partner decided they wouldn't be able to look after me when I came out of hospital, and dumped my things in the ward. My mental breakdown also affected my relationship with my estranged wife and family and I was unable to carry on with the freelance work I had been doing, so I lost that, which made things worse. But Mr Imbuldeniya and his team stood by me all through all this time and I am now completely recovered and moving well, thanks to his wonderful skills and care and not least, his continued personal interest and support throughout my treatment, including often coming to see me in the fragile ward and encouraging me to keep going when things felt very bleak. I have tears in my eyes as I write this. I have been very fortunate indeed to have Mr Imbuldenya as a surgeon and consultant and cannot recommend him too strongly.
