Mr Arfan Malhi

I had a total hip replacement under sedation, carried out by Mr Malhi at Guys Hospital July 2021. I have just been discharged from his care. I had 3 follow up appointments after which I think is amazing. The operation went well and I thank him and his team very much for their incredible care. Mr Malhi was caring and explained what could be done with my hip at the first appointment with him. I’m pleased to say the operation was a success and I would highly recommend Mr Malhi to anyone who needs a hip replacement. Had a total knee collapse of my temporary Right replacement knee. My local Hospital apparently didn’t have the expertise to carry remedial treatment & I was referred to Guy’s Hospital. Not being able to have it done locally made me very nervous as to what to expect with my on going treatment. However after meeting with Mr. Malhi & members of his team these concerns were very quickly dispelled. All aspects of consultation, treatments & subsequent operation were & was carried out so very well. Mr Malhi performed a total hip replacement on my right hip. Polite and quietly spoken - without ever being condescending - Mr Malhi ensured I was fully engaged in decision-making and confident at every stage of the proceedings. During the pre-operative consultation Mr Malhi listened to my questions, discussed my concerns and explained clearly the procedure he would undertake and materials he would use. Consequently, I entered the operating theatre calmly. The operation went smoothly, with the wound healing well. I immediately felt the difference. I was no longer in acute pain. I was able to stand upright and use crutches from the day after the operation. At the post-operative consultation Mr Malhi gave positive feedback that my recovery was on track which I found extremely reassuring moving forward. I can fully recommend Mr Malhi for his orthopaedic expertise and his consideration of me, the patient.
