Mr Martin-Ucar has been my main Consultant from diagnosis of malignant mesothelioma and treatment. He showed a genuine caring attitude to me throughout my treatment. He always kept me informed and explained everything in a way that I could understand and always gave me a point of contact for when I needed. I was always fully involved in decision making. I was explained the various treatment options and this helped me make the best choice for me. My care in hospital was also excellent. He would review me whilst I was in hospital almost everyday, including weekends. I was fortunate to be under the care of a surgeon who has a genuine passion and expertise in caring for patients with mesothelioma. As a result, I was offered Pleurectomy Surgery which has transformed how I feel and my quality of life. Before my surgery, I was unable to walk a single flight of stairs. Today, thanks to God, I now walk several miles easily with no shortness of breath and I feel healthy with no symptoms. A miracle considering how I felt before my surgery. I can not thank Mr Martin-Ucar and his team (nurses, anaesthetists) enough.

Mr Martin Ucar went through the results of a PET scan with me..explained it all..and gave me the options. I wanted him to remove what might have been a malignant tumour from my right lung. This he did.The mass which was removed via keyhole surgery proved to be a non malignant infection. Mr Martin Ucar is a very pleasant doctor who was very straightforward and honest. That's what a patient needs.
