Mr Anthony Ghosh is a London fellowship trained consultant neurosurgeon who specialises in complex spine and neurovascular surgery. Within the field of spinal surgery he treats patients with back pain, degenerative spine and disc disease, tumours, deformity, sciatica, neck and arm pain. He also has an interest in minimally invasive surgery for the treatment of the above disorders. As a neurovascular surgeon he also manages vascular disorders of the brain and spine including aneurysms, brain arteriovenous malformations (AVM's), cavernomata and dural arteriovenous fistulas. After completion of his basic surgical training in Scotland and becoming a member of the Royal College of Surgeons, he gained further experience in neurosurgery in Cambridge. Thereafter he completed an MD research degree in imaging of the brain and spine at University College London and the National Hospital, Queens Square in London, submitting his thesis with pier reviewed publications. He commenced his higher neurosurgery training on the prestigious South Thames rotation, which includes Kings College Hospital and St Georges Hospital, and achieved the award of Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in neurosurgery. He then undertook a combined neurosurgical and orthopaedic fellowship in spine surgery at St Georges Hospital acquiring skills and techniques from both disciplines. Thereafter he completed a Royal College of Surgeons accredited fellowship in neurovascular surgery at Kings College hospital. He is now a substantive NHS Consultant Neurosurgeon in Queens Hospital where he is one of only 2 neurovascular surgeons for the whole region and is a key member of the Essex and East Anglian regional spine network.
