I live in Swindon, and in July 2017, following a biopsy at Great Western Hospital of a subcutaneous growth above my lip, I was referred to Churchill Hospital in Oxford where I was diagnosed with a Microcystic Adnexal Carcinoma. This was rapidly removed leaving a large hole in my face, and four days later I was in the Plastic Surgery department of the John Radcliffe hospital under the care of Mr Andy Pay and his team for extensive reconstruction. Mr Pay had been professional, approachable, and completely reliable. He instilled confidence from the moment I met him and has greatly helped me cope with a very difficult journey. I had three operations in all and the care I have received at John Radcliffe has been excellent. Before each procedure, Mr Pay has explained thoroughly what was going to happen and why, the outcomes and the potential problems. The operations were carried out with great skill and care, and I always felt relaxed and confident because of Mr Pay's attitude. I lost a third of my upper lip and the area above, and a section of my chin and lower lip was repositioned to fill the space. The people who are aware of my treatment are amazed at how good the results are. Considering what I have experienced over the past 18 months, I am very pleased with the results. I now have quarterly checks and will do until the end of the year, and am pleased to say that there is no sign of the cancer. Thank you Mr Pay, from the bottom of my heart.

Mr Pay recently looked after me at both the Royal Berkshire Hospital and at the John Radcliffe Hospital to treat my melanoma. He is the most patient and professional surgeon that anyone could want. The whole (awful) experience was made better due to the efficiency of the 'team' with consultations and my operation running smoothly and quickly. All aspects of my treatment were explained fully and in an understandable way with diagrams (!) and I felt included and confident in all aspects of my care. I cannot thank Mr Pay and his team enough, from start to finish; nurses and practitioners were wonderful and kind

After a biopsy at Royal Berkshire Hospital I was referred to Mr Pay at John Radcliffe Hospital. Ay my first appointment I was quite nervous but soon put at ease by Mr Pay's reassuring approach. Explaining I had a cancer and needing an operation was very daunting. All was done very quickly and in a professional manner. I have seen Mr Pay on follow up appointments since, always understanding and unhurried.
