I was pleased to be seen at Stamford Hospital, which is located nearer to my home than PCH, as much possible. During my first consultation at Stamford hospital clinic, Mr White, who had access to scans organised by my Rheumatologist, explained the difficulties he may have in performing a rectifying procedure on my excruciatingly painful shoulder, due to the deterioration of the joint due to Chronic Rheumatoid Arthritis together with Osteoarthritis & Osteopenia. He explained the benefit then offered a nerve block to tide me over - he referred me, and I was invited for the procedure to be performed at Stamford, within a short time (bearing in mind the restrictions with COVD at this time). The block was successful for a number of months, in numbing my pain- Within a short time I was invited to see Mr White in Stamford clinic again, where he then offered me a place on his surgery list at PCH, for Reverse Shoulder surgery. He showed me the scans whilst explaining the procedure that he planned to perform, inviting me to sign the procedure agreement forms with him accordingly. Unfortunately due to my husband’s illness & Father’s terminal illness I had to decline 2 offers of appointments that were offered me in the next 6 months, for the procedure - Then still had to postpone again 3 days before the agreed appointment due to my contracting an infection - I was pleased to be able communicate my difficulties with Mr White’s secretary, whose details I had been given by Mr White, who was able to help accommodate me accordingly. When eventually I came to arriving for the procedure at PCH I was pleased for the instructions & information to follow sent for me beforehand. Whilst waiting my turn for the final pre-operative checks for a number of hours in the waiting area in an unsupported chair as my Rheumatoid joints were very painful as I had been without pain relieving medicines, as had been advised, for a long time . Once my turn for the procedure arrived I was comforted by the caring theatre team, who put me at my ease for the anaesthetic & procedure. I was pleased to having been offered an overnight stay to have post operative checks for the beginning of recovery. The medicines I was prescribed & given meant I suffered very little shoulder pain together with a comfort sling to aid recovery. I was pleased for Mr White’s visit to update me on my procedure, before discharge, for which medicines to take home were dispensed very quickly. I was given a follow-up clinic appointment for a couple of weeks time to check on progress. Another appointment, a few more weeks later after an x-ray allowed Mr White to check all was well. I am very pleased with the outcome of the procedure & Mr White has advised that, although striving for improvement in movement may be limited due to bone damage, & my limited movement, despite Physiotherapy help. To suffer little to no pain in the joint has done much to improve my quality of life already. Thank you.

Thank you Mr White
