I met Andrew Carrothers in February 2021 and felt extremely confident that he would be able to help me with a total knee replacement using the MAKO system. His secretary Carol was very efficient and helpful in planning the necessary X-rays, MRI, CT scan and operation date. My surgery was carried out on 6 April 2021 and I have made a great recovery in 6+ weeks. This has really surprised me as I am 74 and had been in pain for quite a few years. I saw Andrew for a review of my operation today and he is very pleased with my mobility. I am able to go out walking every day for at least 20 minutes. Thank you so very much Carrothers Orthopaedics.

I needed a total knee replacement in both knees but I’ve got health anxiety and was extremely frightened about any surgery. During lockdown my mobility got steadily worse and my pain increased which adversely affected me sleeping. In desperation I had a consultation with Mr Carrothers who was wonderfully reassuring and spent some time explaining what could be done. He recommended the Mako robotic-arm assisted surgery, and we decided my left knee should be done first as it was most painful. He also suggested an injection into my right knee two prior to the surgery in order to strengthen it which would aid my recovery. After my consultation Carol, Mr Carrothers PA was really helpful and answered lots of my questions, or got Mr Carrothers to respond. The surgery went really well, I was home within three days, and followed all the instructions regarding exercises, resting etc. At five weeks I was able to drive the car and went back for a couple of hours volunteering at the charity shop. At my seven week final check up, Mr Carrothers was very pleased with my recovery. Again he was very sympathetic about when I should have the other knee done, and extremely understanding of my circumstances.I cannot speak highly enough of him and his team and I will be back later in the year to have the other knee done.

Mr Carrothers is an excellent surgeon having performed a hip replacement operation for myself 5 weeks ago, I have had an excellent recovery far greater than I ever expected. I was walking briefly with no assistance and without pain within 10 days and able to climb stairs only holding the handrail, The after care was exceptional with all necessary information explained together with supporting literature and Hospital advice. The availability of on going help was really appreciated from the Hospital and from Carol Morse PA to Mr Carrothers, Due to the care, attention and the information given I was able to leave the Hospital within 2 days of the operation, one day earlier than expected. The attention to detail and care given was exceptional, provided the advice given is followed. I would strongly recommend Mr Carrothers to anyone considering surgery.

I am 82 years old and have had a long standing problem with a hip replacement in 2003. I was walking in a very stooped fashion and had excruciating pains in my thigh and shin. When I booked an appointment to see Mr Carrothers he thought that a replacement hip insert would allow me to stand in a more vertical fashion. I have now had the operation and have just attended a 6 week review. Mr Carrothers was very pleased with my progress and my stance has improved greatly. He said it could take up to 6 months or 1year for me to reach optimum performance but that I had made a very good start. Mr Carrothers is very easy to talk to and is a very optimistic surgeon and I would recommend him to anyone who has hip problems. My new hip has gone in centrally and not off centr like the old one. I have made a very rapid rcovery from the operation and am extremely pleased.

From the moment I met Mr Carrothers he inspired me with confidence. He has an assured manner and kindness in dealing with a 71 year old who had not had any previous surgery. I booked for an Arthroscopy and partial Menisectomy but during the surgery Mr Carrothers discovered problems and performed a Chondropirasty on damaged Cartilage . My recovery has been virtually pain free and within a week I was walking without a limp. Six weeks later I have been discharged and with the promise of further care if needed plus contact in 6 weeks by telephone. All in all great care and excellent service, many thanks.
