It is now ten weeks since my total knee replacement and I am delighted to say my life has been transformed by the excellent skills of Mr Carrothers and his team. It is pure joy to be able to walk normally again and without pain - something I’d always taken for granted before the arthritis took hold. Last year Mr Carrothers performed a total hip replacement on my left hip, using the robotic arm assisted technology and this proved to be a great success. However, I was still struggling to walk due to my severely arthritic right knee, so I had no hesitation in asking Mr Carrothers to carry out the TKR, again using the Stryker robotic arm. At the consultation, he was very patient and understanding, instantly putting me at my ease. He allowed time to answer all my questions, explaining in detail what was involved. He then visited me on the day of my operation, explaining why he had decided that the Stryker knee was not the appropriate choice for me, so had sourced a different one instead. He came to see me several times after the operation, to check on my progress and again answer all my questions. He obviously put a lot of thought into my individual requirements, which serves to illustrate the excellent personal attention he gives and for which I will be eternally grateful!

I am a 76 year old woman with numerous health problems. In February 2024 I had a hip replacement at Nuffield hospital Cambridge with Mr Carrothers. Two days before the operation the Mako CT scan revealed that I had pelvic fractures. After some discussion the operation went ahead. Mr Corrothers replaced my hip, applied bone grafts to my pelvis and corrected other damage to the whole area. The anaesthetist, Dr Mahroof, handled medication and a spinal block with amazing skill. Thank you Dr Mahroof. The operation has been transformative. My recovery has been more than I could ever have hoped for, out of pain and walking again. Mr Carrothers is an amazing surgeon who also has a caring and reassuring manner. I cannot thank him enough.

Mr Andrew Carrothers has in my mind reached the apex of his orthopaedic speciality. I would certainly recommend this gentleman based on my recent full knee replacement. His specific attention to all areas of his work is second to none and everybody I have met endorses this opinion.

I suffered a torn Meniscus in my left knee which unfortunately flipped. One effect of this was it left me unable to play golf and ongoing discomfort. After discussions with Mr Carrothers I underwent an athroscopy to repair the damage and was very pleased to be able to walk comfortably within 72 hours with no pain. Current recovery path hopefully means I will be back on the golf course with in around 6 weeks of the procedure rather than missing a lot of the summer. Everything was clearly explained about what was involved but it was very much my decision to go ahead with no pressure and I cannot fault the care I received. Definately the right decision to go ahead and have it done.
