Next week I will be having a total knee replacement of my right knee.Five months ago I underwent a knee replacement of my left knee, the operation has been very successful so I am feeling quite relaxed in having this procedure done again in a few days time ! Andrew Carrothers has done a great job,I have no pain at all in the knee and have a good range of movement, walking is a pleasure again and my posture has improved and I am now upright again.I had the procedure that included using the Mako robotic assisted Triathion,I had no bruising and my very neat scar is hardly visable. Interestingly,my physio commented that he was so impressed with the scar.I was in hospital for three days and then started on lots of physio thereafter which is so important . Mr Carrothers and his team have provided a first class service from his secretary through to anaesthetist and all the caring nurses in between, all very helpful and reassuring. I am delighted to be under Mr Carrothers care.

I had Mako assisted left hip replacement just before Christmas. I thank Andrew for fully understanding my concerns and answering all my questions at the initial consultation, during the hospital stay and at the six week post op check. Mr Carrothers has a very assuring manner and has made me feel at ease throughout the whole process. After a number of years of just putting up with the stiffness in my hip and my ever decreasing walking speed, I am so pleased to have taken the plunge and gone ahead with having the procedure done. Life changing!

This is my second review as I'm now just a year in from my left total hip replacement with Mr Carrothers. I've just had my one year follow up and all is perfect. As a 55 year old at the time of the operation, I felt my life was severely limited and I wasn't able to run, walk long distances or even cycle without discomfort. Mr Carrothers has completely given me my life back and the operation has gone so well, that from just a few months in, I wasn't aware at all of the difference between my remaining hip and the replacement. So well in fact, that I'm currently in training for the London Marathon in April 2023, testement to the skill and care of Mr Carrothers. I can't recommend him highly enough.

I had a total hip replacement eight weeks ago, performed by Andrew Carrothers at the Nuffield Hospital in Cambridge and have no hesitation in recommending him. He definitely sees his patients as people, not just as medical conditions, and I felt he really listened and took on board my individual needs and concerns, which helped me make the decision to go ahead with the surgery. He is calm and reassuring, which inspires a lot of confidence. Eight weeks on from my surgery, I have a neat scar which has healed perfectly, and am starting to really enjoy the benefits of my new hip. I would definitely go back to him in the future if I needed a further joint replacement.

I made an appointment to see Mr Carrothers as I had a severe arthritic right hip. The x-ray that was taken and I could see with Mr C showed the severity of my situation. Mr C reassured me and went through my options. At all times, he was very informative and answered all my questions, and there was a lot of questions. During my initial meeting with Mr C, we were continually being interrupted, which he assured me had never happened in the 10years of him being at the Spire Cambridge Lea. After our consultation he discussed this with the Matron. As I was quite distressed by what had happened, I met with him a second time, via telephone. I really appreciated this as I had never gone privately for anything, but as I was in such pain with my hip, I felt I could not wait for the NHS. I had my operation at the Nuffield Hospital Cambridge on 1st Nov. The operation was a great success, Mr C was very caring and supportive and came to see me after the operation. He asked me to wiggle my toes and press against is hands with my legs. All was good. If at any point in the future I will need my left hip replacing, he will be my first port of call, I cannot recommend Mr Carrothers highly enough. Thank you Mr C .... see you in Nov at my 12month along appointment. Beverley Childs
