Great Doctor, put me at ease, explained the options, and offered advice when it was asked for.

I have been monitored by Mr Kelkar and his teams at Queens and King George hospitals for the last three years for low grade prostate cancer. My last PSA test and MRI scan revealed changes in the grade and subsequent biopsy confirmed that I would need treatment either surgery or radiotherapy and hormone. After consultation regarding both options I chose surgery. My care was then transferred temporarily to UCLH where Mr Kelkar does robotic assisted keyhole surgery. I underwent tests to ensure that I was fit enough to undergo the surgery. The surgery took place 7 weeks ago which was a success. During this time I have been so impressed with the whole team. Everything has been fully explained both before and after the operation. Any questions I had have been answered. The whole procedure went smoothly. Aftercare has been great too. I can’t thank Mr Kelkar and his teams enough. I will continue to be monitored for the next 5 years. Peter Smith aged 71.

I had an MRI at Queens Hospital followed by a biopsy at King George’s hospital . To discuss my biopsy results I received a call from Mr Kelkar. I was quickly put at ease by Mr Kelkar who informed me that I had prostrate cancer . Although the news was distressing Mr Kelkar explained in detail in a very professional and caring manner as to what the options were . I had the option of radiotherapy or prostatectomy. . I chose to have a robotic surgery which is Mr Kelkar ‘s speciality . His team at king George hospital was also excellent especially Grace who was the nurse assigned to me . After my dealings with Mr Kelkar I requested if the surgery could be performed by him which was agreed . Everything went to plan and after my surgery on 5 August I had a follow up appointment with Mr Kelkar who again communicated very professionally explaining in detail about the procedure . I felt very reassured with his explanation.
