Conlonoscopy - I found Mr Khushal to be very pleasant and polite. I experienced no issues while he was performing the procedure other than discomfort as the test scope maneuvered around the splenic flexure and hepatic flexure. This discomfort was to be expected when the colonoscopy is performed without sedation/premedication. I chose to have no sedation/premedication for the procedure. My experience with the procedure: Post procedure I am still experiencing abdominal discomfort in the area of the ileo-caecal junction / appendix. This is the region from which a sessile polyp was resected and endoclip applied. My colonoscopy was performed on 5th Nov. 2023 and I am still in discomfort as of 28th Jan 2024, nearly 3 months later. My colonoscopy was performed as part of the "Bowel Cancer Screening Programme". After a few days post colonoscopy, when the discomfort did not subside, I telephoned the Bowel Cancer Screening team for advice. They appeared not to want to take any responsibility for my post colonoscopy issues and informed me that I would have to follow up with my GP for further investigation. At the time of writing, I am still awaiting an appointment to see a colorectal specialist. Prior to the colonoscopy I felt absolutely fine, post colonoscopy I have been in constant discomfort.

Despite a fairly bleak prognosis after being diagnosed with a rectal sarcoma, I have nothing but praise for Mr. Khushal. The operation was unexpectedly complicated but nearly five years after the operation to remove the tumour, I'm still here, thanks to his skill as a surgeon. This more than makes up for any deficits in his bedside manner which I suspect was more to do with being rushed off his feet as opposed to a lack of empathy.

This consultant / surgeon seemed somewhat agitated, rather distant & impatient with my contact meeting just before performing my colonoscopy. I felt there was very little empathy whatsoever and other than making sure I signed the 'operation' form showed little concern for my understandable anxiety . During the actual colonoscopy examination the attitude was brusque and heavy handed. Following my colonoscopy 'experience' all the staff seemed disinterested and the so called 'aftercare' on the day seemed 3rd rate. Overall I felt ALL the medical staff were just going through the motions !
