Mr Amgad Nakhla replaced my hip in November. I have recovered very quickly and the small scar is very neat and healing well. I am extremely pleased with his operating techniques.

I feel very fortunate to have found Mr Nakhla. I was referred by my GP and attended Mr Nakhla's NHS orthopaedic clinic on Friday 13th January 2023. He was able to quickly confirm that I did require a total hip replacement and explained his minimally invasive form of surgery. He clearly set out three possible options. I could be added to the NHS waiting list (probably a two year wait), go privately locally (still a lengthy wait of perhaps eleven months) or I could consider private care at The Lister Hospital in London. He had a slot at The Lister within two to three weeks. I had researched Mr Nakhla on-line in advance of the first consultation and was impressed by the high feedback ratings and the information about the particular operation. Mr Nakhla explained the operation and his approach and shared with me some previous patient videos of before and after. I was impressed by the possibility of day patient care and returning home the same day. I made a quick and easy decision that Mr Nakhla was the surgeon for me and attended The Lister on Saturday 28th January. All went very smoothly. I went into theatre at around 11.00am and awoke in recovery at around 12.15pm. I felt very well and after a drink and some lunch, I was walking under the guidance of a physiotherapist and with the aid of crutches (including two flights of stairs) by around 2.30pm. Mr Nakhla came to check on me personally mid afternoon and confirmed that the operation had gone well which was very reassuring. After some formalities I was discharged around 7.30pm. I then had a four hour journey home by car and I was perfectly comfortable. I did take two co-codamol in anticipation of a rough night's sleep but I didn't really need to have taken them. I am writing this on Wednesday evening and have had no need to take any of the discretionary pain relief provided. I have been able to shower, get into normal clothes and begin the recommended exercises. I am already down to one crutch and envisage the need for this will not last much longer. Anyone I speak to is astonished at how good my surgery has been, especially my friends who had alternative types of replacement a year or so back with other surgeons. I have no hesitation is recommending Mr Nakhla to anyone contemplating hip replacement surgery. He is very approachable, clearly a talented surgeon and I can only hope that he is still available to me when my other hip needs to be done!

Excellent Doctor. Very reassuring and informative. I’ve just had Hip replacement surgery and everything was perfect. I walked in to Hospital in very bad pain and the next day walked out completely pain free. Totally life changing for me. I’ve now returned to work as a Landscaper after just 5 weeks. I can’t recommend Dr Nakhla highly enough.

Mr Nakhla carried out a full hip replacement on me at the Lister hospital on the 21st January 2023. From first meeting of Mr Nakhla at the James Paget Hospital I found him courteous and professional in his approach to my concerns regarding hip problems, he explained all options to me in regards to the treatments available. His candid and honest approach put me immediately at ease over all my concerns and at no point did I feel pressured into accepting private treatment over the NHS , even though private treatment was the option that I decided to take. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Mr Nakhla to any person who is considering having a similar operation, either privately or via the NHS.

Mr Nakhla was my surgeon when I was referred to James Paget Hospital for knee replacement. He recommended a total knee replacement after looking at my x-rays. Then the pandemic hit. I had to wait until December 2021 after one appointment was cancelled due to no available bed. My care in the hospital was excellent. Mr Nakhla performed the operation under a spinal anaesthetic quickly and professionally and visited me a little later to show me I was able with assistance to stand, After one night in the hospital, I was discharged and able to climb my stairs to bed with the aid of crutches. I have just attended a follow-up check by Mr Nakhla after a year. I am so pleased with the outcome and flexibility of the knee joint he used and have walked some 7 miles without a problem recently. I'm hoping that if my left knee needs replacing I will be able to have Mr Nakhla again!
