I recently had a total knee replacement surgery performed by Mr Amgad Nakhla at Clementine Churchill Hospital.Mr Nakhla is an outstanding orthopaedic surgeon. He is laser focused. He communicates clearly, listens carefully to me, his patient, and responds appropriately with empathy and the right level of compassion and clarity. Importantly he is approachable and always responds promptly to any questions I have about my treatment which I find helpful and reassuring. My recovery has been excellent. My physio comments I am doing exceptionally well. Within a short time following surgery I am doing almost all the things I like to do. I first met Mr Amgad Nakhla at my initial consultation on the 4th June 2025 and was immediately impressed with his professionalism, friendliness, positivity and enthusiasm. He listened closely to my description of my right hip problem and the pain caused, not just in the hip joint but also the referred / residual pain elsewhere in my body, including the lower back, and legs. After discussing the process in detail I had no hesitation in agreeing and authorising him to carry out the operation. After a comprehensive pre-operation assessment on the 24th June I was scheduled to have the operation on the 16th July 2025, Naturally I was nervous but he took the time before the operation to come and see me and explain the exact timetable and what to expect. He was like he was at our first meeting and filled me with confidence. The operation was a brilliant success and afterwards I was amazed how small the operation scar was. He called in again the following day to see me and to enquire how I was, It is now 7 weeks since my operation and I'm really pleased with the outcome - pain free and getting back to full normality by the day. I met Mr Nakhla again on the 26th August for my post operation meeting and again he was as before -very professional, and easy to talk and willingly answered my questions and gave me more advice on how to achieve a full recovery and avoid problems. A brilliant surgeon and an amazingly engaging person - I can't recommend him highly enough.

Mr Nakhla is the ultimate professional who combines warm hearted bedside manner with a scientific pragmatic approach to my medical problem. I wish all consultants are like him. I'm very grateful and highly appreciative of his help.

Outstanding Care and Excellent Results from Mr Nakhala After reviewing my MRI, Mr Nakhala scheduled my left knee replacement for 8 June 2024. On the morning of the operation, everything went ahead as planned. Following the surgery, Mr Nakhala reassured me that the procedure had gone well and kindly showed me the post-op X-ray, explaining the outcome clearly. Only twenty minutes after returning to my room, the physiotherapy team visited to help me get moving. I didn’t feel confident enough to walk with crutches initially, so we used a walking frame instead. By the next day, I was managing well with crutches, and in the afternoon session, I was even taught how to go up and down stairs. After just two nights in hospital, I was able to go home. I gave up the crutches on the third day, and six weeks later, I was well enough to go on holiday to Alaska! Now, almost a year later, my left knee is still steadily improving. I walk comfortably and regularly—easily covering 1.5 miles without issue. Most days, I barely notice I ever had an operation. This experience has been in complete contrast to my right knee replacement, which I had done seven years ago by a top consultant at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. That surgery left me on crutches for three months, and even now, I still experience pain. I can’t thank Mr Nakhala enough for the outstanding care and expertise he provided. Mr Nakhla is very professional and caring for his patients and contacts and monitors how your recovery is progressing. I am 87 years old and had a hip replacement in October 24. Dr Nakhlas surgery is amazing and unlike hop operations that friends have had. 1 was able to move around with very few restriction, little pain or discomfort and able to exercise from day 1. 7 weeks on the pain In my other hip is now non existent, my wound has healed and I am now moving around freely without pain. I can't thank Dr Nahkla enough. I know where I will be calling if I need another operation.
