I had a cataract in one eye. Mr Chandra operated on this eye and I now have excellent vision. He has a really pleasant manner, answered my questions clearly and reassured me when I felt nervous. Should I have any further problems with my eyesight I shall certainly consult him again.

My care was perfect , therefore I can’t think of how it could improve in my experience and view

I was nervous as I have never had any surgery before. I had a detached retina and within 24hours of diagnosis I had a consultation with Mr Chandra and been scheduled for surgery that afternoon. I had everything explained to me and was given the chance to ask any questions. After my surgery I was given my post op care advise and follow up appointments. My surgery was successful and was discharged 6 weeks later. I could not have asked for better care than what I received from Southend Hospital's eye team and Mr Chandra.

I only have two points to make which do not relate directly to Mr Chandra. As a patient who paid over £6k I did not expect to be kept waiting for my post op appt on the 7/2 for over an hour and for my second op on the 11/2 - I was booked in for 10.30 (expecting to go into theatre at say 11.15 ) but didn’t go into theatre until 12.15. From a patient’s perspective awaiting surgery it is a long time to sit waiting - almost 2 hours ;I accept part of those 2 hours would be for drops etc. but nevertheless. Mr Chandra / his theatre team/nurses were great just disappointed about the delays- with no real explanation.
