I first saw Mr.Yewlett several years after a flying accident had resulted in severe injury to my right shoulder which necessitated a plate in the collarbone and numerous screws to hold the humerous head together (this surgery was carried out at Sheffield hospital). Over the following years I saw Mr.Yewlett regularly and my condition was monitored; I started to suffer from sever arthritic pain in the shoulder. Mr.Yewlett operated to remove some of the metalwork and I had injections to relieve pain. Eventually I was given the option of a total reverse shoulder replacement. Waiting time for this operation was relatively short and I was seen by Mr.Yewlett whilst waiting for the operations who discussed the options available to me. I received a new shoulder in November 2023. Recovery was surprisingly quick and three months later I have regained good movement in my shoulder with minimal pain. The recovery process and timescales have bee fully explained to me and I am extremely happy at how the shoulder replacement has improved my quality of life. I would certainly recommend Mr.Yewlett to anyone considering this surgery.

I'm really lucky to have seen Mr Yewlett after i shattered my collar bone.surgery was not an option at the time as i'd also broken a rib.Mr Yewlett pushed for the NHS to get me fitted in a Clavibrace currently only available for private patients.I'm the first adult to get 1 on the NHS.The trial was a real game changer and it meant I didn't need an operation.I could function on a day to day basis with minimal pain and full movement while the bone was mending. The healing process went as Mr Yewlett explained and I'm extremely grateful.I also hope that the NHS will use these braces in the future to help other patients.

From the first appointment in the Fracture clinic with Mr Yewlett I felt very comfortable and at ease with him as he fully explained the ins and outs of what the operation and the future. He told me that for him to do the operation needed there was a seven month waiting list and asked me if I would like to go on the pool waiting list meaning any one of his colleagues would do the operation. Just imagine my surprise and delight a month later I had a phone call to attend Pilgrim Hospital a few days later and Mr Yewlett would be operating on me. We arrived at the hospital shortly after 9.00 am and told to go the top floor lounge to wait to be called, It was not ill 1.45pm that I was given instructions to get myself ready for theatre. Mr Yewlett had already been to see us and asked if I wanted to through with it. I replied most definitely (still being in so much pain). He said great as he has had to get someone in from away to help him with the special tools. However when I was being prepared for the theatre, I was told there was no bed for me (I said put me in the Bostonian for the night), then the wonderful anaesthetist came back in and said a bed had been found so the operation went ahead. It took some five hours to perform and was discharged the following afternoon (having had a visit from the anaesthetist mid morning to check on how I was doing/feeling). My wife rang the hospital on the evening of the operation but no one knew which ward I was in so this was a worry for her. Due to covid lockdown I did not receive any follow up physiotherapy at hospital, however I googled and was able to print some exercises which I did at home. It is now Nov 23 and had the operation Feb 20 and have had no problems whatsoever and have the full use of my shoulder, able to all to what is asked due to the superb work done during and after by Mr Yewlett. I have no hesitation in recommending Mr Yewlett or the type of the operation he performed on me. Only a few months earlier I had read in the local Grantham Journal about Mr Yewlett and his work in his specialist field, being the top one in the country which gave me a lot of faith when I saw him. Many thanks Mr Yewlett for everything you have done for me.

Mr Yewlett performed a Reverse total shoulder replacement to my left shoulder after I had a bad fall last May. From the very beginning he was very open about all that the operation would involve and recovery etc. He made sure that I understood everything and answered all my questions in lay terms so I was very at ease and so grateful to have a Doctor that clarified every little detail so there was no confusion. I have had follow ups since, which went very well and am now on a course of physiotherapy which is also going very well. My recovery and movement is amazing , all thanks to the wonderful talent of Mr Yewlett and I can't thank him and his staff enough for all they did for me. Sincerely and with great gratitude, Elizabeth Beeby.

I wanted to leave some feedback to express my gratitude to Mr Yewlett for the care I have received and his expertise in the repair of my left shoulder following a traumatic fracture and dislocation of the numeral head. It occurred during the covid pandemic, I managed to trip and fall over a crate of beer that we had ordered for my sons small graduation celebration we were allowed in the garden, and landed against a brick wall with my shoulder taking the full impact of the fall. I was seen in urgent care at Pilgrim Hospital and following X-Rays I was reviewed by a new orthopaedic reg in the plaster room due to the high number of people in A&E waiting to be seen.I was admitted overnight for strong analgesia and seen by the Consultant on call for the weekend in the morning. He performed a M.U.A to correct the dislocation and because his expertise in orthopaedic surgery being below the waist referred me on to Mr Yewlett. Due to covid consultation was via the phone.Mr Yewlett discussed my options of repair using bone from my hip or metal and a technique of fixing with cement. From the way he spoke he installed me with confidence for a good outcome. Unfortunately due to covid the surgery was delayed by 10 days for the availability of a theatre. This made surgery more difficult as the natural healing process had started. Following the repair Mr Yewlett referred me to one of Pilgrim Hospitals leading Physiotherapists Munya Truro for physio rehabilitation. His programme of exercises contributed to maximising the range of movement and strength I have regained in my shoulder. Mr Yewlett continued to monitor my progress periodically over the next few years until he was happy to discharge me. I feel due to the quality of his surgery I have achieved the best outcome possible and I have been able to return to my role as a labour ward midwife here at Pilgrim. In our unit I feel we strive to provide the highest standard of care and it was reassuring as a patient to receive an equally high standard of care from the orthopaedic team. Thank You, Kind Regards, Sue Murphy
