In June 2025 I had a posterior decompression and foreaminotomy on the cervical region of my spine.
Mr Nader-Sepahi is clearly an expert in spinal neurosurgery. He demonstrated confidence in his clinical diagnosis and explained clearly and concisely the surgical procedure I needed together with the anticipated outcomes.
Unfortunately due to a respiratory illness I acquired, my proposed surgery had to be delayed but Mr Nader-Sepahi’s Practice Manager diligently kept in touch with me to get me re-booked as soon as possible following my recovery.
Mr Nader-Sepahi’s calm and compassionate manner really helped to reassure me regarding the spinal surgery. He took the time to answer my questions and did not trivialise my concerns and fears.
His post-operative care was also exemplary and he continued to demonstrate his caring and compassionate manner.
I also found it very refreshing that he has high regard for his ‘support Team’ - his anaesthetist, Mr Lightfoot and his Practice Manager, Bernice.
The surgery was hugely successful in alleviating the extreme pain I had been in and giving me more movement in my right arm, wrist and fingers and just as Mr Nader-Sepahi explained there will hopefully be further neurological recovery in the coming months. He took the time to refer me to a physiotherapist closer to my place of residence and gave a detailed explanation of the exercises he wanted her to do with me.
His PracticeManager, Bernice is very prompt with her communication and letters of correspondence.
Should I experience any problems with my spine in the future I would most definitely consult Mr Nader-Sepahi even if I re-locate back to my home county of Cheshire.
Mr Sepahi is a very thorough and caring surgeon. The process from start to finish was very professional with help from his secretary, Bernice dealing with my insurance company and follow-ups scheduling. I felt very comfortable discussing my neck issues with him and talking to other professionals who dealt with my issue, he is held in very high regard by them all.
Highly recommended.Competent and caring.Explains procedures clearly and concisely.
Mr Ali Nader-Sepahi.
This surgeon is the perfect choice for spinal surgery is needed where there disc and nerve damage is the problem or prognosis. He has performed some 2000 operations like mine and is extremely experienced.
I haven’t yet started on physiotherapy but I feel that I am making good progress.
This is not a criticism, not at all. If it is a cuddly bed side manner with time for TLC is what you want then perhaps as he keeps his attention on the essential necessities, one might find him a bit brusque. I prefer that because if the surgeon is concentrating on the skilled implementation of the treatment, he knows what’s best and if there were problems that need explanation then he would be assiduous in taking time to deal with all concerns. I thought he was great.
After months of suffering with painful sciatica in my left leg, to an extent it was seriously affecting my quality if life and struggling to get a GP appointment I arranged to see a Dr privately at the Hampshire Clinic. After a thorough examination and MRI scan he referred me to Mr Nader-Sepahi. I'm so glad he did. Mr Nader-Sepahi walked me through the MRI in detail and explained why he considered discectomy surgery to remove the disk fragment protruding from between my L2/L3 vertebrae was required. The procedure was explained in a manner easily understood and he suggested I take the (Easter) weekend to think about it. As a self-funded patient it was important to be sure I was making the right choice. After discussing this with my wife I saw Mr Nader-Sepahi the following week with my wife. He took great care to explain to her what the problem was and why it needed surgery. I had the surgery on the 6th May and am pleased to say other than a bit of stiffness if I sit/stand too long things are so much better. I can walk upright, without pain and no longer need a stick to help. He has now referred me for physio to strengthen my core muscles and explained what I can expect with regard to levels of activity.
I felt completely at ease at all stages from my initial visit, through surgery and afterwards. All in all this took 6 weeks from the first visit to the Hampshire Clinic to actual surgery at the Spire in Southampton.
