I met Mr Alijani when I was diagnosed with cancer of the oesophagus and he operated on me along with his team at Ninewells, Dundee. One year on from the removal of my oesophagus and replacement with part of my stomach by Mr Alijani I am totally healed, scars almost invisible and eating more or less normally. Apart from successfully having performed my surgery Mr Alijani explained in great detail what was being done to me at each stage of my stay at Ninewells. He is a modest man with no airs and graces who is prepared to answer even the simplest questions or tell you if he does not know the answer – humility personified. David Wallace.
