22nd December 2023

Mr. Casey performed emergency brain surgery on me, at the National, Queen Square, on 23rd May 1996. By coincidence, it was apparently his Birthday. I had suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and was given a less than 20 per cent chance of survival. and wished to express my appreciation, thanks, and respect. I owe him my life, and despite his professional expertise, knowledge, and experience, I consider him to be non pretentious, attentive, and a perfect gentleman. I owe him my life. I am, and will always be,grateful and appreciative to this man.

I only saw Mr. A. Casey as an outpatient once. I was in great pain in my right hip and lower back and could hardly walk. He organised a series of MRI's and Scans for me which took a whole day. Six weeks later I have heard nothing from him -no results. Luckily I signed a paper when I was at the Wellington which allowed me personally to get the results of the scans. I managed to have these sent to me though they are all in medical language. I could see no sign that my hip, my main point of terrible pain, had been scanned. He had also arranged an appointment for me with a foot surgeon without informing me. When I read this I immediately cancelled this appointment. He had no business to do this but maybe he just wants to make sure all his 'medical friends' get their bite of BUPA's apple as well.! I found another Specialist who I saw yesterday who is a different kettle of fish - he examined me which Mr. Casey did not bother to do. When the second surgeon looked at the scans I had sent him he said but there is no scan here of your hip. In other words Mr. Casey had not listened to me in any way and by not telling me the results of the scans I have wasted all these weeks, in terrible pain its obvious he does not care.

I was diagnosed with a form of Spina Bifida in 2012 at the age of 52 & was operated on by Adrian Casey three years later. I never saw him the 10 days I was in Hospital, when I was discharged I was bowel & bladder incontienent. Almost eight years after the operation, I have constant backache & constipation due to a total lack of follow up care, due to seeing a different member of his staff!, which means my quality of life is far worse after the operation than before. In fact I've has more help in the last year from the Spinal Injuries Association, than in the previous seven from the NHS.

I was not aware that this review existed or i would have made an entry long ago. In late 1998 i suffered an industrial accident which resulted in a fractured neck. It took over a year for the full injury to be discovered but immediately i was put under the care of Mr Casey things started to look up. He performed a 3 level pinning and plating plus a bone graft in early 1999 at Queens Square, London. I put my fantastic recovery down to Mr Casey and his brilliant team. I had a couple of follow up outpatients appointments with him at Great Portland Street. 20 years on and older I have a normal life.... for an old bloke..... as normal as pos in these terrible covid times. Thankyou Mr Casey
