I saw Mr Farquharson for a rectal prolapse in April 2019. During my consultation Mr Farqurharson listened to my symptoms and issues i had been experiencing. He explained why he thought i was experiencing these problems. He also drew some diagrams on what maybe happening to cause my discomfort . I was examined in clinic and offered extensive tests to ensure the right treatment could be offered for mep. My imaging and investigations were then discussed in a pelvic floor MDT. I was followed up in clinic where everything was explained to me in great detail. I was then offered an option of a surgery which involved using mesh. I had a lot of questions around the use of mesh and the procedure which Mr farquharson and his team were more than happy to answer. I did not feel pressurised to have surgery. But i knew it was the best option to take for me. I had surgery in June and even though recovery was slow and i needed to get used to the changes within my body i feel surgery was the right thing to do. I have now been followed up and discharged. I found my care was excellent from diagnosis to treatment and would be happy to see Mr Farquharson if i had any future problems.

I was seen by Mr Farquharson within 1 week of my initial GP appointment. He immediately arranged treatment which was carried out in the following week. I had a further procedure 3 weeks later, and received a letter today saying all was well. A further procedure has been arranged for 3 years time. Most impressed with the service at endoscopy units at Telford and RSH. I am sure this has saved me from potential future problems.

I was admitted as an emergency in April to The Royal Shrewsbury hospital and had an emergency operation.Mr.Farquharson was my surgeon everything was explained to me in great detail and it transpired I had bowel cancer stage 3.Obviously this was a shock and surprise to me and my family but I have to say after the operation the care I received has been second to non from everyone.I am now receiving adjuvant chemotherapy under the care of Dr Nasim at the Lingen Davies Centre.I saw Mr Farquharson yesterday who explained in great detail what the next steps in my treatment will be and my husband and I came away from that appointment reassured.Mr Farquharson has been wonderful and thank goodness for our amazing National Health Service.

I saw Mr Farquharson as an emergency patient at Shrewsbury hospital due to my Ulcerative colitis not responding to treatments or high does steroids. Myself my IBD team and Mr Farquharson agreed that surgery would be the best option and a total colectomy was performed. Throughout the procedure Mr Farquharson explained everything that would happen in a very clear and precise manner. Once I had come round from surgery Mr Farquharson telephoned my Wife himself to update on my condition and that I was out of surgery. Mr Farquharson gave a great level of care and made time to see me himself when needed before and after surgery. He has an excellent bed side manner and takes time to listen to any concerns you have. I would highly recommend him and will have no hesitation asking him to perform any future surgery I may require.

My wife and I would like to give our sincere thanks to Mr Farquharson and his Colorectal Team for the amazing care and treatment I received during my recent surgery for colon cancer. My appointments with Mr Farquharson were made very relaxed and we both felt he helped me to achieve a remarkable recovery. I am now being treated at the Lingen Davies Centre for chemotherapy the care given there is also exceptional. We wish there was not so much unnecessary criticism made about the NHS and our 2 amazing hospitals in Shropshire, the wonderful staff and that the care they provide was appreciated more. Many thanks David and Sandra Mitchell
