I have been a complete mess for the past 4 weeks while being examined to find out what’s wrong after prolonged abnormal bleeding. I arrived for my hysteroscopy this morning and right from the start Miss Iyengar put an extremely anxious patient at ease. She asked me my history, and didn’t interrupt at all, she listened to everything I had to say. I asked her to tell me the truth all the way and she did. She gave me all the outcomes from the best to the worst and how they could all be treated. She didn’t rush any of the consultation. The procedure was nothing more painful than contractions, the nurses had to listen to me waffle rubbish and really took my mind off what was going on. Miss Iyungar left nothing out when explaining to me what she could and couldn’t see… I now have 2 weeks to wait for the biopsy results, but they won’t be the 2 anxious weeks I’ve already been through, and although it will be worrying, it’s going to be dramatically less worrying than I anticipated. What an amazing team. Whatever treatment I face, I have complete faith in Miss Iyungar to take me through it.

Miss Iyengar completed a hysteroscopy in June with professionalism and efficiency. She had time to listen, react and communicate fully. My thanks to the Team at Stoke Mandeville Hospital.

After getting nowhere with the NHS with decades of totally debilitating frequent heavy painful periods I paid to consult Miss Iyengar privately. She lacked empathy, seemed disinterested - disbelieving even, baulked at the gruesome details (if you can't describe your horrific periods to a female gynae consultant - who can you tell?!) and her only suggestion was to put me into surgical menopause which wasn't an option for me as was already suffering dreadfully with natural perimenopause and am very medication sensitive. £300 down the drain. I ignored her advice and consulted a top London gynae who listened, gave me a full hysterectomy and found fibroids in my womb and endometriosis my tubes, ovaries, spine, pelvis and bowel which he excised. I'm now on HRT and feel a million dollars. As a previous reviewer said, if you have endometriosis or even a suspicion of it, ask your GP to refer you to centres of excellence for it locally at Luton & Dunstable, Oxford Women's Centre or the Royal Free, or go privately to any of their consultants. Bucks Hospitals NHS Trust Gynae department is a shambles and Miss Iyengar as our only local private gynae is terrible - they know nothing of endometriosis and gaslight women who are suffering beyond anything they can possibly imagine. Shame on you. I will say Miss Iyengar's secretary is excellent though - how she can work for such a women I don't know - but thank you for always treating me with courtesy and respect. Oh and that Miss Iyengar is the local 'menopause specialist' for Bucks is a joke - she knows how you put you into menopause but not how to help you with it. Do yourself a favour and read up on https://www.balance-menopause.com/ and work with your GP or self refer to Newson Health and get proper advice.

I would not recommend Miss Sucheta Iyengar for the management of endometriosis. I cannot comment on her colposcopy and menopause knowledge and management skills, however, I found her knowledge of endometriosis management to be extremely poor. Whilst I was under her care I was also inappropriately discharged from gynaecology. I have been informed by several A&E gynaecologists that this was a gross mistake and should have never happened. This has resulted in numerous A&E visits and months of delay due to being put back on a waiting list at square one. Dr Iyengar, please remember that endometriosis is a debilitating chronic illness and requires long-term specialist management under a gynae team specialising in endometriosis.
