I had just about given up on having breast reduction surgery after a bad experience with a consultant in Harley Street, of all places! As a last attempt at age 61 years, I went to see Ms Helme, after a search online. She was so understanding. We talked through my situation and I felt totally at ease as she clearly explained the procedure, risks and the process. All of the pre-assessments went like clockwork. On the day of my operation, I arrived at the hospital at 7.15am and was home by 4pm that day. Everything worked like a well oiled machine! Ms Helme and the team were all totally professional and extremely caring. Needless to say, the follow up appointments have been the same. I am so thankful to Ms Helme for listening to me and helping. For me, this was life changing surgery and the results are truly amazing.
Miss Helme, was kind, compassionate and competent. I had bilateral breast implant exchange with a unilateral capsulectomy. I felt in very safe hands and was very pleased with the outcome. I would 100% recommend Miss Sophie Helme.
Extremely professional whilst remaining caring and open to all questions and queries. Very honest advice resulting in fantastic results. I’m delighted and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.
I highly recommend Miss Sophie Helme as an excellent surgeon for breast surgery. After much thought and consideration I decided to book an appointment for breast reduction. A friend of a friend had been through the same surgery with Sophie so I felt happy I was in good hands. She explained everything clearly, gave helpful pre-op advice and was lovely and reassuring on the big day.
I am so pleased with the results and my only regret is not doing it years ago!
I have wanted better boobs for a long as I can remember. I never had a good shape or size, but this was hidden as I was a larger lady.
I had successful weight loss surgery, having lost half my body weight and maintaining my weight for 10 yrs. but was left even more unhappy with my ‘empty pillowcases’. The weight loss meant I lost any excess fat I did have.
My husband and I talked and agreed it was time to get something done. We (mainly he) googled surgeons, reviews, experience and we agreed to make an appointment with Sophie to see about getting something done.
I thought I needed implants to resolve my problems. After all, I had the skin but not the filling. However was surprised that she didn’t recommend implants. At least not straight away.
We discussed everything, my concerns, thoughts, ideal outcomes, medical history etc. A physical examination of my breasts current shape and size.
The recommendation was to do a ‘lift’ initially. This would reshape me and also bring my nipples into better alignment. Sophie advised that I may personally struggle with implants due to the natural size and shape of my breasts and space between chest wall and nipple base being very narrow.
If after the lift (mastoplexy) I still wanted implants she would happily do these 12-months after. Thereby giving everything chance to heal and settle.
The surgery was booked. My care at the Spire Portsmouth was amazing. I was well looked after and kept up to date with everything that was happening. Including the slight delay experienced. Surgery went well, with no complications and I was discharged the same day with comprehensive after care instructions and medication.
Recovery went well and I was amazed at how my new boobs looked. Needless to say, my husband was very impressed with how they looked. We both agreed that even with raw scars etc. I had a better overall shape and look (my main aim), and may not need implants after all.
I have just had my 12-week post op follow up with Sophie. She was amazed herself at the results and i couldn’t thank her enough. I was over the moon with the results.
We discussed implants but only because this was part of my original intention. I explained, I no longer felt implants were necessary. I had a nice pair of boobs that had a nice shape to them. Which is what I was after.
The benefit of the lift, is that it was all my own tissue, nothing foreign has been added into my body. Which for me with my medical history was a slight cause for concern with rejection etc.
I would definitely recommend Sophie to anyone considering breast surgery. She is honest and cautious with you and will listen to what to want and advise the best way for you as an individual on how to go about getting the results you’re hoping for.
Huge thank you Sophie.
I LOVE my new boobs

Profile
I understand the anxiety and emotional stresses breast problems can cause. I therefore centre my practice around listening to patient's concerns, addressing and investigating them if necessary and providing a clear and individualised solution. I aspire to do this is a friendly, open and sympathetic setting so that my patients really feel that they have had had a chance to be listened to.
I have had somewhat unusual training as I received specialist fellowship training in both oncoplastic breast surgery as well as cosmetic surgery. I use this training to individually tailor my approach for breast operations. I was awarded the Gold medal for excellence for my FRCS surgical examinations for achieving the highest mark nationally in 2012. I have worked as a consultant breast and endocrine surgeon at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth since 2015 which has one of the busiest breast units in the country.
