Written by a carer at Fernville Surgery
7th February 2014

On first impression I did not realise that Dr Mangat was in fact a doctor. As I was waiting in the waiting room at my GP practice she walked out of the room and a little boy tripped on the toys. She immediately went towards him and picked him and consoled him whilst his mother was dealing with her other children. I visited Dr Mangat with my mother who has dementia and was having ongoing issues particularly with social services. I had already attended the surgery twice for the same problem and was quite upset at how slow it had been. Dr Mangat sympathized and listened to our concerns all the time very warm and engaging to my mother, who didn't know where she was and kept repeating the same thing. We needed some paperwork filling and although the administtration charges and can take upto one week, Dr Mangat filled it in her lunch break and personally dropped it at our home the following day, aware that coming into the practice for me was difficult as well. Although usually we can only discuss one thing in an appointment, she managed to examine my mother as well and felt that it would save a trip back to the practice for the check up and then improved her medication. A full service! We felt that for Dr Mangat nothing was too much trouble and we felt that her caring nature and helpful attitude is a real asset to patients. Since then my nephew has seen her and his opinion has only been positive too.
