Ms Spiteri and her colleague took great care to ensure I was fully informed throughout the process of diagnosing and whilst treating my problem. Michelle did not 'talk down' to me and was clearly an understanding and sympathetic Doctor. In such a huge hospital as the JR, I have found this is not always the case, however, I cannot.... and would not fault her, or her colleague today, Thank you both. If I have any criticism at all, it is of the 'wider' department but they are relatively minor in nature. 1. Although the department was not overtly busy, I was only seen for the first part of the process nearly an hour after my allotted appointment time. I am aware that I would not be privy to what was happening behind the scenes and I noticed I was treated no differently from anyone else. So it was probably all going on unseen. 2. There were a couple of used dressings on the floor of the cubical I was seen in. They were still there when I returned after an x-ray. Some bandages on a trolley nearby were unravelled and touching the floor. There seemed to be plenty of staff around who could have been alert to these minor details. 3. It was a pity that the coffee machine was out of order, as it would have been nice to take some refreshment during the waiting times. I hope my comments are not seen as hypercritical, as this was not my intention. All in all, my visit to the OUH Trauma unit was perfectly acceptable and I thank all the staff for their support.
