Can’t speak highly enough about Professor Jahangiri, this person literally saved my life, I was on the usual nhs waiting list for 7 months, as soon as the professor was given my data, l was booked in to St George’s within 4 days and operated on 4 days later, my experience with her was the best I could ever have imagined, everyone I have met during this procedure cannot speak highly enough, that’s from doctors to nurses, today I saw my local doctor, after listening to my heart he said whoever did your operation did a very good job because he could not tell the difference between mine and a healthy heart, I owe my life to her, thank you.

I was deeply disappointed by how poor my care was under Dr Jahangiri. For all her accolades I unfortunately felt like a number instead of a patient. She took around 5 minutes to see me despite being under her care for 3 weeks and it was impossible to speak to her again. I felt looked down on and spoken down to as a patient despite being in need of major heart surgery. She made decisions on a whim without communicating to me and didn't have the courtesy to convey any of her surgical decisions to me in person or even send someone from her team. In the end I would find out about my diagnosis and plan from the nurses who were kind enough to relay information to an obviously stressed and worried man. I'm sorry to say I wouldn't trust Dr Jahangiri and it would be best to find another clinician. It's sad that she's on top ruining the reputation for I'm sure many other great cardio surgeons at St George's. It's a shame but I'm leaving this review as I wouldn't wish the nightmare my family and I went through on anyone else.

Following angiography at St Georges i was informed that i was being referred to prof Jahangiri for consideration of CABG.. not what i wanted to hear.. I contacted my private health insurer and they agreed to move forward privately.. within 7 days i met the prof at St Anthony's.. she immediately put me at ease and the op was scheduled for four days later !!! Like another reviewer, St Anthony's was not doing cardio so i was booked in at Wellington North.... The prof's secretary Nicole was a star at keeping me informed and calm, i booked in and everything went smoothly.. The prof and her anaesthetist briefed me thoroughly and the staff at Wellington were excellent.. The prof saw me every day during my eight day stay, even calling at midnight to check on progress after a small setback.. I believe i had the best surgeon for my condition, without doubt and have total faith in her.... if you are lucky enough to have her as your surgeon , relax .. you are in the best hands.

Professor Jahangiri performed my quadruple bypass and aortic valve replacement after I began to get discomfort in my chest, which felt more like acid reflux. I had expected to be fitted with a stent, so the need for major surgery was a shock - but one of the nurses at the hospital whispered to me "Professor Jahangiri is THE best!", which of course made me feel a lot better. The operation should have taken place in March at St Anthony's Hospital, but was cancelled at the eleventh hour when the NHS 'requisitioned' the hospital for Covid-19 patients. It went ahead three months later at the Wellington Hospital. I understand Professor Jahangiri had never worked there before and that I was her first patient there. Fortunately she was assisted by her usual team. Thanks to her skills I was up and about very quickly, walking round the ward several times a day, to the extent that the nurses told me to slow down a bit. Professor Jahangiri visited me every day and I noticed she was polite to the hospital staff, unlike some specialists I've seen. My family even managed to contact her when, weeks later, I suffered two bouts of tachycardia and fibrillation, one of which was on a weekend. Apparently these are not uncommon after surgery, but my family did not know this, and she succeeded in reassuring them. Throughout my time under Professor Jahangiri, her secretary Nicole has been extremely helpful, responsive and informative, and always ready to chat. My life has hopefully been extended, maybe even saved, so my family and I shall be eternally grateful to the Professor.

Dr Janhangiri performed a bypass on me in 2007. Today, 11 years later I'm still in good health and extremely thankful that Dr Janhangir and I met. I still remember asking her "how long is this surgery good for", her response was "it's good for life". Being a guest in the UK from Canada, I felt and still feel very fortunate to have had a Dr. with the passion and credentials that she has.
