I have ongoing moderate upper/lower airway obstruction with multiple other worrying symptoms that could indicate the need for complex assessment . This doctor told me in a telephone consult that it was all psychological and in my head without knowing me or asking questions. As a nurse of 35 years in NHS I was shocked at this unprofessional, unkind and unsafe consultation. If it wasn’t the pandemic with the possibility of doctor burnout and exhaustion I would not be so forgiving. If I did not have this problem I would have be able to work in ICU during this critical time, so this poor consultation has a knock on effect.

I saw Ms Hicklin at 102 Sydney Street with ongoing dizziness back in December 2018, from first meeting her she was incredibly reassuring and helpful. She explained the various different tests that she would do including examining my ears, hearing tests and referring me for an MRI scan (which subsequently led to a CT scan for further investigation). She was very calming and considerate in her questioning and her approach, she is very knowledgeable about all things ENT related and was thorough in making sure I saw the right people at the right time to rule out anything more sinister. I cannot recommend Ms Hicklin enough for anyone suffering with ENT related difficulties; her manner is professional yet approachable and she takes the time to listen to you without already diagnosing or prescribing something. A very genuine, thorough and experienced consultant.
