Following a routine smear test I was referred to Miss Katy Ammar as a large polyp was identified and needed investigation. Miss Ammar was very friendly, she asked a number of questions and came to a conclusion that it was probably nothing to worry about and that it was more than likely a polyp that required removing. She explained the procedure and asked me whether or not I would be happy for it to be removed if possible to which I agreed. Miss Ammar examined me and confirmed that it was a polyp, she then carried out a colposcopy and removed the tissue, throughout the procedure she checked that I was ok and reassured me at all times. The procedure went really well and was done with care and professionalism. Following the procedure, I was told to rest and felt really happy with the care given. Miss Ammar then talked me through the procedure and asked me if I had any concerns or questions. She told told me what to expect and gave me a care pack. She also asked whether I wanted to see the tissue removed, to which I did as it’s important to see what everyone was referring to. The sample removed was fairly large but it was more or less pain free. I was so happy that she was able to remove the tissue there and then rather than having to come back at a later date and having a further op with general aesthetic. I would highly recommend Miss Katy Ammar, she was kind, reassuring and professional at all times. Please don’t hesitate to see her, she is one of the best!

Miss Ammar introduced herself and explained she was a consultant. She asked me some questions regarding why I had been referred to her. She asked me if I had any bleeding and I said no. (I am post menopausal by some some years). Miss Ammar listened to my reply which was there was no bleeding, I explained that something had shown up on an ultra sound scan. She then offered me a hysteroscopy and I asked her to confirm that this was inside my uterus shich she did. Miss Ammar asked me if I understood what was involved and I confirmed that I had looked up all the possible procedure on the Leatherhead Hospital website the night before and that I knew what a hysteroscopy was. It was the GP practice nurse who referred me because they had found something 1.7mm long on the ultra sound scan. The GP practice nurse did not explain exactly where this thing was. I explained this to Miss Ammar and she was fantastic and clarifying this for me. Previously I have had a colposcopy, so Miss Ammar explained it was in my uterus and therefore I would be undergoing a hysteroscopy. She then explained in detail the procedure. She offered a local anaesthetic but went on to explain this could prove more painful in her experience and the reason why. So I opted to not have the anaesthetic. Two nurses were also present and as the pain began everyone was very supportive. It was over quite quickly. Miss Ammar laughed when I said thank you. Really and truly, my grandma died at the age of 48 of cancer of the uterus and I am eternally gratefull for all the parties with friend Miss Ammar must have missed whilst she was studying to get into medical school. God bless you and the NHS. I received great care and had plenty of time to have a cup of tea in the recovery room, where Miss Ammar checked again that I was okay. When I said I would get going, she once again reassured me that there was plenty of time.

I tend not to write reviews but felt compelled to do so in this instance. I, probably like many women, have an aversion to gynaecological procedures/investigations. My experience under the care of Miss Ammar was totally positive and way above expectations. She is an outstanding professional; caring, compassionate, skilful and extremely personable: I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her.

A most empathetic and patient centered doctor. Miss Ammar was easy to talk to, ensured that I understood her diagnosis and shared in planning treatment. I would gladly travel from my home in Somerset to be looked after by this amazing gynacologist.
