If you have been referred to Miss Doreen Khan-Lim’s eye clinic at Southampton University Hospital and have any concerns, please read about my experience, it was from start to finish simply great and I say this without a single reservation. Like many of us I had some trepidation about having anything surgical done on or even near my eyes and approached my initial consultation with reservations. My worries were rapidly diluted by the swift efficiency of the staff, all of whom had a caring attitude and treated me with absolute respect. Any concerns that remained were wiped out once I met Miss Lim, who, whilst making the original assessment of my condition and deciding on a treatment plan, took the time to engage me in the process and ensure I was aware of all the factors being considered and how she planned to proceed. I was grateful for that and her explanations were delivered with the utmost respect and in a way I could easily understand. Furthermore, her responses to my probably quite banal questions were given carefully and patiently; on leaving this appointment I felt totally confident in her and her team. This level of overall proficiency was maintained when it came time for the procedure a week or two later, even during the actual operation I felt part of the team and a two way conversation continued throughout, I was even given a choice of what music I preferred in the operating room. I don’t believe that there is any part of this overall experience that could be improved and that very high standard was maintained on my subsequent check up with Miss Lim, who again demonstrated a truly caring and totally professional demeanour, together with first class communications skills. Finally, it should also be said that the result of the operation achieved precisely the objective planned, which is further testament to Miss Lim and her team, clearly a top surgeon but also a good manager, communicator, teacher and leader. So if you have to go to this clinic, relax, don’t hesitate and go with confidence, you will be in excellent hands. William M.

Miss Khan- Lim was exceptional. My appointment was incredibly thorough and compassionate and I left feeling I had been given the best possible care. She adjusted her communication to the appropriate level and explained everything in technical detail but in a digestible way which was greatly appreciated. I felt like I had all the information I needed to advocate for myself and further care. My only disappointment was that I needed to be referred to a different specialist as my issue was outside of her area of work. If I could've stayed under her care I would have and would recommend her absolutely. Thank you.

Doreen is an outstanding consultant who is incredibly knowledgeable, skilled, patient and understanding. I have been under her care for quite a few years now, receiving eye injections for my facial synkinesis and words cannot do justice to how much Doreen has helped me. The level of treatment and care she delivers has been life changing and is unparalleled compared to any other doctor I have been under the care of. She takes the time to really listen, has a calm and gentle approach and is always compassionate and supportive. I've been truly blessed to have been under her care and I will be eternally grateful to her for restoring my confidence. She is a gift to her patients and to the profession.

Ms. Khan- Lim is an exceptional Doctor. I have been under her care since 2021 following Neurosurgery at Southampton with Mr.Thomas & Mr. Shenouda, also fantastic surgeons. As a result of my surgery aftercare, my eyes required further treatment. She is thorough, patient , knowledgeable and I felt supported throughout my care which I cannot fault. Her clinic is always busy and over runs, but it’s because she gives her patients time to communicate and she listens. Her surgical skills are amazing too, I needed that also.We are blessed to have such a caring, warm individual who is there for us and a credit to her profession . I have been discharged now back to my local hospital 1.5 hours away, having done so well. However, her door is always open if I should need her help again. A remarkable Lady.
