We have seen Miss Rees today in regards our son's hernia. His twin brother has been an inpatient at GOSH for a number of months. He has been under Miss Rees's care through a number of life saving operations and continues under her consultation .Miss Rees has always had a very professional attitude. She regularly takes the time to ensure that we understand our sons conditions and she is very open and honest about each aspect of their care and the potential outcomes and risks attached. Initially,we did not hold parental responsibility but Miss Rees has always treated us with respect and compassion-whilst being very clear about her legal responsibilities. At all times, our sons have been her first concern and we have never felt any worries about their treatment or care. We trust her judgement and her guidance and feel very lucky to continue under her care.Miss Rees ensures that we are updated regularly on our son and, where appropriate ,she also consults us on choices and decisions to be made. Miss Rees shows a great compassion towards us as parents and shows that she understands the difficult time we have had(and continue to have)with twin boys. Without question,we feel that we have received some of the best care in the World and have little doubt that Miss Rees us the reason that our son is still living and continues to improve and develop under her care.

Clare Rees met us with our 3-year-old son in May 2015. She was very thorough in her assessment and helped us to get a (working) diagnosis very quickly. Clare took the time to talk to us and explain every step of the way, as well as taking time to engage our son- taking an interest in the books he was reading. Within 2 days, Clare had to break the news to us that it was likely that our son had neuroblastoma. She gave us just the right amount of information about what was likely to happen next. We are now out the other side of treatment and our son has started in reception and is doing well (he still loves stories). I had promised that I would send Clare an update sometime (it has taken a while!) Having met other families and heard how long diagnosis can sometimes take, we are very grateful for the way we were treated by Clare and her team. We feel very lucky to have encountered someone with her knowledge and approach at this crucial point in our journey. If there is anything I could suggest in terms of improvement, it would be for Clare to consider returning to work in Paediatric Oncology!! Many thanks for your fantastic support at this difficult time
