My experience with Dr McGuinness and her team could not have been more positive. From initial consultation, through to post surgery support and guidance, Cathy has provided me with the highest level of care. She is warm and reassuring and has a calm and assured persona. She is clearly a highly skilled expert in her field.

I found Catharine McGuinness and her team totally straightforward, caring and competent. I am sure that the outcome of my procedure was positively affected by the fact that I fully understood what part I had to play afterwards and I found the whole experience much less daunting than anticipated because of the clear communication and kindness of all concerned.

I had an infected leg ulcer. It had been getting worse for over a year. I was in agony. I was receiving little or no help from my GP. I was given more courses of antibiotics than I care to remember I had had one meeting with an NHS surgeon and had been told pressure bandages was the way to go. I was in enormous pain, so much so it is difficult to convey on paper. Eventually I was taken into hospital due too the fact that this had become so bad I maggots had appeared in it! I was given haphazard treatment, at the end of which I was assured I would have the operation which would restore blood flow to my leg. After a week I was discharged. I had a two week course of antibiotics, but by this time I had contacted Catherine. My wife and I knew the operation would not happen as soon as I was discharged. Needless to say, this proved to be the case. By the time the NHS surgeon told me he had decided to go back on his word, I had already booked the operation with Catherine. The initial consultation and scan was quickly followed up with a simple operation. This was done whilst I was awake, with a "scanner", Catherine and a nurse. It took place under local anesthetic, in pleasant surroundings. The pain was minimal. They talked me through it step buy step, to allay any fears I may have had. It took about 45 minutes and I walked out. Within THREE days my leg was healthier than it had been on over a year! The pain was gone. I was off the painkillers! It was amazing! The follow up treatment was excellent, I did exactly what Catherine told me and returned, weekly, bi weekly and eventually monthly. My ulcer is healing at a remarkable rate. I have total confidence in this lady and her friendly, efficient team. I cannot recommend Catherine strongly enough, for a very modest consideration, she and her team have given me my life back. I am so grateful! If you are reading this and are in that cycle of pain/painkillers and antibiotics, please go and see Catherine, if you can. I can honestly say its the best decision I have made in years!
