Pleasant enough but didn't feel he really listened, was a bit dismissive of some of my symptoms. Overall came away from the appointment feeling dishearted and out of pocket, very expensive.

I came as a private self funding patient to see Mr Siddiqi, his secretary was very helpful and friendly and gave me an appointment straight away. Mr Siddiqi listen to my concerns when other surgeon in the past did not. I was very worried I found a lump, he was very patient listen to my concern and I had a biopsy. Mr Siddiqi told me the lump was not cancer but I needed to have this biopsyk for peice of mind. He was very good and was right it wasn't cancer his secretary had excellent people skills very easy to talk to. I'm very grateful my mind is eased money well spent would highly recommend Mr Siddiqi he was marvelous. 10 out of 10

Very disappointing, went to this doctor for treatment in regards to TMJ and was just offered surgery or injections both of which didn't sound very appealing. Was quite dismissive about many of my symptoms and a little patronising. Didn't seem very knowledgeable about TMJ overall, no mention of any additional tests or scans or alternate treatments. Reading another review below about the lady who had 3 operations and then ended up needing total joint replacements speaks volumes, please beware.

Response from jamal siddiqi

I'm sorry to hear your comments. All patients are offered a range of options that suit the problem including doing nothing if pertinent. If anything I am a conservative surgeon who will only offer surgery if other treatments have been tried and failed. If you look at my reviews they specifically point out that I do care, absolutely am not patronising or dismissive and that my communication skills are excellent. In 11 years of Consultant level work I have met all types of people and respond in a professional manner. I don't send all patients for scans, usually only those where there is something unusual [uncommon] or I am contemplating fairly significant [= 'open'] surgery. This is because they add nothing and do not change the management of the problem i.e they are unjustified. My work has been internationally presented twice now in the last 3 years, the results of which match or exceed agreed standards. The lady who needed joint replacement had crippling arthritis which was being temporised until definitive replacement was offered after being initially declined, something I had to persuade another unit to do. So long as you found satisfaction elsewhere then I am pleased.

I saw Mr Siddiqi at the Springfield Hospital, having been referred to him by my GP. I have suffered with recurrent mouth ulcers for some years, have tried many preparations, none of which gave lasting relief. Mr Siddiqi listened to me, which in itself really helped. He explained that he could not cure the ulcers, (which I understood), but he prescribed an antibiotic tablet to be dissolved in water and held on the affected areas for 3 to 4 minutes in order to reduce the inflammation. This works for me! I took great comfort from Mr Siddiqi's manner and reassurance and I now feel that I have a means of relief when my mouth ulcers seem unbearable. Grateful thanks to my GP for the referral and to Mr Siddiqi for his care and attention.

I saw Mr Siddiqi at Springfield Hospital for a multiple tooth extraction which was complicated because of the anatomy of my mouth. In contrast to the doom and gloom attitude of the oral surgeon who I saw at a local dental clinic, Mr Siddiqi had a far more helpful and positive approach about how to deal with my situation! I also appreciated his honesty about the possible complications of the procedure. I therefore felt very reassured after my initial consultation with him. He was also caring, efficient and professional on the day of the operation, so I that I felt well cared for! I am also delighted with the fact the result was better than I expected! I would definitely recommend him to other patients!
