Dr Zia Carrim was highly recommended to me by my brother-in-law. I was not deceived. The doctor immediately puts you at ease. He is kind, patient, professional. I had cataract/lens replacement surgery for both eyes. Examinations were done by his assistants Ms Raawiyah Mohamudally and Mr. Abdullah Munglah who are well trained and polite. Thereafter the doctor discussed about the options for lenses and his way to proceed with the operation was well explained. Throughout the operation, the doctor explained what he was doing. The operation went well. Thank you Doctor Carrim. I would also like to thank Dr Reshma Gaya, the anesthetist, for her kindness and her way to explain things to you with calm, Dr. Carrim's assistant in the operating room. Ms Raawiyah and Mr. Abdullah did the 2nd post operative checkup and they were professional as always. One of the things that I appreciated is that sometimes I did not understand things in the first instance and they did not hesitate to explain over again.

We have chosen to go to Dr Zia Carrim in Mauritius and have reached the conclusion that it is the best decision we could have made regarding cataract surgery The care and approach , and the know how , is probably unique to him in Mauritius Surgery was prepared with a humane touch and went very well. Recovery was almost immediate , pain inexistent and all queries were attended to We would highly recommend this doctor

I ( Jimmy Yeung) happened to hear about Dr Carrim through my sister and her husband who successfully underwent cataract surgery at The Eye Clinic in June 2023.The excellent feedback about his professionalism coupled with his pedagogical approach greatly impressed my wife and myself. His interview on Radio One whereby the animator was so amazed by his own style in answering explicitly to her questions, gave Dr Carrim the name of educationalist doctor ( Le docteur pédagogue ) also contributed to our strong desire of to pay him a visit even though there was no urgent need.An earlier visit in May 2023 to an ophthalmologist did not reveal the need to remove cataract for both of us in the near future. My wife extremely appreciated the attitude of Dr Carrim who kindheartedly and patiently answered to all her questions ( we felt that stupid questions do not exist for Dr Carrim). Not a single moment did he give the impression that we were taking too much of his time. Finally, both of us had successful cataract surgery, mine in July 2023 and my spouse in Sep 2023. While I originally opted for general anaesthesia, thanks to his sound arguments and the trust he instilled in myself, my surgery was realized under local anaesthesia and I would highly recommend the latter to everyone since, I did not feel any sensation of pain during the 30 mins surgery for both eyes. I must sincerely say that everything that Dr Carrim predicted during our visits came true after surgery and that today we feel so grateful towards Dr Carrim and his wonderful team.Besides the state-of-the-art equipments at the Eye Clinic, I would also like to acknowledge the high standard of service of Mrs Mamodeally and Abdullah who made our experience so unique and unforgettable. Keep it up

I was on vacation in Mauritius from the UK. Shortly after arriving I experienced significant visual distortion in my right eye and having a long history of eye problems including advanced glaucoma was very concerned I had a detached retina. I made contact with the clinic who were able to see me the same day. The diagnostic services I received were first class. Equipment was modern and diagnostics were comprehensive. Initial feedback from Abdullah was thorough and reassuring before Mr Carrim gave me some good advice and was able to tell me to enjoy the rest of my holiday. Thankfully the retina was not detached. I’ve seen a lot of UK NHS eye facilities and this Port Louis practice was at least as good - perhaps better in ways. I would have no reservation in recommending the facility and they have my sincere thanks.
