I have found Dr Kampers to be an outstanding psychiatrist. He has had such a positive impact on improving the quality of my life and played a key role in enabling me to live my life the way I want to. Finding me! I was terrified of speaking to him at first after 15 years of trying to find a psychiatrist to help me. I finally received a diagnosis of cPTSD and chronic pain. I went through a transformative process of recovery with Ketamine Assisted Therapy. He’s a great listener and very supportive. He hears everything I say and hears what’s important to me, I really feel he is on my side and wants me to be happy and well. Dr K has incredible patience and the wisdom of his experience is really apparent to me. Dr K has a quite unique approach. He’s wants to know about the ‘whole’ of me, the person, not just the diagnosis and the meds. It really works because I feel happier and whole, doing things I never I thought I could do and being the person I never thought I’d have the confidence to be. I trust him. I’m getting my life and he continues to be supportive every step of the way. I’m very grateful.

All my life i have suffered from chronic depression. I have tried many medical and alternative medicines with no luck at all. I couldn't see what options were available to me next and was only getting worst until i was told about Dr Kampers. From the first meeting Dr Kampers listened to me and heard everything i had to say. He was clear and i felt i could trust him from the start. We went through a number of different solutions until in a short space of time he had identified the right balance of medication and i have Never felt better. I could not have ever imagined being sat here now saying that i feel im better and on the path to a full recovery and this is 100% down to Dr Kampers and his care.

Having suffered with a mix of issues between pain & psychological, I had seen many 'specialists' and a wealth of different medications over 10-15 years. I was luckily introduced to Dr Kampers by a very experienced London GP. Having researched Wayne on the internet, I was impressed straight away with his breadth of experience, many different countries he's worked in and his approach to identifying symptoms which he doesn't always medicate straight away, unlike some doctors. My private appointment came through quickly & by the time we first met online I was in a pretty bad way. I poured my heart out to Wayne for an hour and he then summarised my issues and conditions immediately and for the first time ever, someone was actually able to recognise and diagnose what was happening to me. I can't begin to explain what a relief this was. Wayne then started me on the road to recovery and has been there through the ups & downs of the last 12 months. He doesn't always just agree with you, but challenges you in a positive and constructive manner. I am forever indebted to Dr Kampers for literally saving my life. I have been in a stable condition for the first time in a long time & as his website says 'he wants to help you to live the best life possible'. He has been able to get me to a position where I can now focus on health, diet & constructive counselling. I am no longer living in the past or stressing about the future, but living in the present and enjoying it. I can't recommend Dr Kampers enough. I have passed his details onto many people both personally & through a couple of support forums. Wayne, you are one in a million & and these reviews show that.... thank you.

Dr Kampers is an incredible psychiatrist. He has a wonderful way of making you feel very safe and there’s nothing you can say that he hasn’t heard before so not once do you feel uneasy about talking about whatever you’re feeling and experiencing. I really can say honestly that he is a very kind and caring person who cares about his patients and I always feel like he really has my best interests at heart.

Dr Kampers treats creates a safe space for patients. He actively listens and provided me with tools to try to help myself at my own pace. This is a very important point, as doctor Kampers understands mental health and PTSD and is able to guide me at a pace that does not trigger me. He helped me gain my voice, understand my own behaviors and how to help myself between meetings, and has become my most trusted doctor as I genuinely believe he will help me reach stability in the long run. As a patient of Dr Kampers I admire his level of care and compassion, he is professional but very approachable, and I highly recommend him for patients who suffer from depression, anxiety, and trauma although I am sure he can help with other disorders as well but I can only speak for the ones I suffer from.

Specialises in

  • Genetics
  • Pain medicine

Profile

Earlier in my career as the medical director of a busy GP practice in Canada, I was often frustrated by the limitations of addressing mental health issues in ten-minute consultations. I wanted more time to listen to my patients, hear their stories, ask questions, and understand the context in which their symptoms arose before diagnosis and treatment. And thus began my journey to the UK, and into psychiatry.

I have been practising medicine for over 35 years, and as an Integrative Consultant Psychiatrist for over 25 years.

I am a highly specialised and experienced doctor with a broad range of expertise and clinical skills in General Practice, General Adult and Elderly Care Psychiatry.

I have always had a curious and inquisitive mindset, especially about what I consider to be the blind spots in Western Medicine, specifically:
• Undiagnosed and untreated ADHD
• Medically unexplained symptoms and chronic pain and the inadequate and often myopic approach to these areas of medicine, where patients are most frequently subjected to medical gaslighting.
• Female hormonal mental health issues.
I recognise that precision medicine using genetic testing as a blueprint and platform facilitates the optimal functional medicine approach and that the future of psychiatry is inextricably linked to psychedelics and best combined with psychedelic and integration assisted therapy.

I believe mental, physical, and spiritual wellbeing are all equally important, and go hand in hand.

My approach as an Integrative Consultant Psychiatrist focuses on mind-body-spirit optimisation, and I assess individuals as a whole and in context.

I am a mind-body and trauma informed expert clinician, who uses a biopsychosocial and evidence-based approach to chronic primary pain, chronic functional syndromes, and medically unexplained symptoms.

I use a diagnostic hierarchy approach, which implies that certain diagnoses should not be made when others are present. My approach contrasts with the traditional DSM and ICD based approach of making multiple diagnoses at the same time which can lend itself to the problems of comorbidity and polypharmacy.

The core aspect of my approach to clinical psychopharmacology is the importance of recognising and tackling this comorbidity problem, thereby avoiding all diagnoses are created equal approach, which often leads to unnecessary treatments.

My special interests are:
• Chronic Primary Pain (neuroplastic pain) and Mindbody Medicine (Psychophysiologic Disorders)
• Undiagnosed and untreated ADHD and ADD
• Female Hormonal Mental Health
• Psychedelic Assisted Therapy and
• The role of Cannabis Based Medicinal Products in Mental Health.
I am a member of the Psychophysiologic Disorders Association listed in their Directory Practitioner Directory

I am the only UK based Medical Doctor (Physician) and Consultant Psychiatrist skilled in the diagnostic assessment and treatment of these conditions and all associated comorbid mental health conditions.

I am a member of the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP), the World Institute of Pain and The British Pain Society.

I have recovered from neuroplastic pain myself and developed The Pain Recovery Program

I also have a residential Pain Recovery Program which is based in South Africa near the Kruger National Park
White River Manor Pain Recovery Program

I am a member of Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies and a certified Ketamine Assisted Therapist.

I am the Consultant lead for 2 Intravenous Ketamine Assisted Therapy Clinics in London and also offer Ketamine Assisted Therapy using oral Ketamine Lozenges.

I recognise that MDMA and Psilocybin assisted therapy can help heal psychological disorders and trauma and will incorporate these and all other psychedelics as soon as I can legally prescribe them which will then facilitate evidence based micro dosing.

I am a member of the Medical Cannabis Clinicians Society and the Medicinal Institute of Education and have had expert medical cannabis training specifically for UK doctors.

I am registered with Script Assist which enables independent practitioners to prescribe medical cannabis in their existing clinics and is subjected to Streamlined Clinical Governance Data Lead Formulary and involves Doctor/ Patient Goal Setting.

I am the only Consultant Psychiatrist in the UK that offers any and all of these programs.

I consider myself to be one of the most forward and lateral thinking psychiatrists in the UK and my approach values integrity, perseverance, and curiosity.

I integrate traditional medical and psychiatric approaches and work closely with complementary healthcare practitioners registered with the Complimentary & Natural Healthcare Council and trauma informed expert coaches, working closely with Trauma Informed Coaches.

Thanks to a progressive career spanning three continents, patients can be assured of an approach that is international in outlook and sensitive to different cultures, expectations, and norms.
