I saw Dr Chan for the first time today, regarding my elderly Mum who has been experiencing distressing and unexplained issues which have got progressively worse over time. All the staff have been extremely helpful including the secretaries and clerical staff who spoke with Dr Chan to make the consultation possible today. Dr Chan was extremely pleasant, patient and professional in his approach to both my mum and myself, dealing with sensitive issues in a very kind and understanding way. He explained in much detail the tests that Mum had undertaken over the previous months and the conclusions drawn from this. Although he was at this time unable to make a firm diagnosis, he explained fully the reasons why and how the exact nature of the problem would become clearer over a period of time. Dr Chan was able to prescribe medication which we hope will help alleviate some of the distress Mum is experiencing and I am completely satisfied that Mum is receiving the best care possible. I have personally been racking my brain to try and understand the nature of Mum's problem for a long time and for the first time feel that this has been acknowledged and addressed thoroughly. I am very grateful to Dr Chan for his expertise and for taking on mum's case. I would highly recommend Dr Chan to other patients. He is thoroughly deserving of an excellent review.
I attended Dr Chan's clinic today with my father. Despite having to come to terms with a few of life's changes recently, my father was treated respectfully and with great understanding and kindness. This particular 'trip to the doctors' had the potential to be very stressful but I'm delighted to say that we were both very reassured and have been able to pass that on that reassurance to the rest of the family. Many thanks!
A year ago I was suffering from clinical depression, a friend took me to my GP . Within days I had a psychiatric nurse visiting me at home. I was seen by Dr Chan who was totally supportive and reassured me I would get better. It took several attempts to find the medication which suited my needs but throughout ,my nurse liased with Dr Chan and my excellent psychologist with whom I spent several long sessions. Later when I was much better I attended a course of CBT therapy which gave me tools and also a group of people suffering in a similar situation, one no longer felt alone. I am now in a much better place, better equipped to deal with my problems the main one being the death of my husband four years ago. I would encourage anyone with threatening mental health problems to seek help as soon as possible, do not blame yourself or struggle on alone, help is available. Dr Chan and his team have been extraordinary and I know they are there should I need further help in the future.
This is not just a job to Dr Chan he came across so caring, he made me feel like this could be his mother etc by put my mum at ease and made her feeling very relaxed, everything was explained in layman's terms.
