Dr shaw is a really wonderful psychiatrist. She listens, and is empathetic. She was the first medical professional I’ve ever engaged with who I felt actually cared what I thought, and respected my opinion on my own care. I’ve recommended Dr Shaw to five friends of mine over the last four years and I will continue to do so. She’s brilliant, and kind, and that’s a rare combination. The bad reviews on here seem to be from disgruntled patients - no one likes to be told they are mentally ill- but it’s not really the doctor’s fault, and hardly seems fair to leave bad reviews for an excellent doctor because of it.

My husband and I saw Dr Shaw in January when he was referred as an emergency patient by our GP. Dr Shaw listened attentively to everything we had to say. She was calm, considerate and extremely professional in her approach. This is all the more impressive since my husband was highly agitated and not making much sense at the time. I am his wife and I found his behaviour extremely alarming. Dr Shaw was not shaken by his aggression and his emotional outbursts. What is more, a short time afterwards, Dr Shaw produced a written summary of that utterly chaotic meeting which was astonishing in its clarity and grasp of our situation. Only someone highly skilled in what she does could have taken such accurate case history from such a confused and distressed patient. Dr Shaw sectioned my husband and put him on the path to recovery. I will always be grateful for her insight and would recommend her to anyone seeking specialist help.

Dr Shaw says one can't prove one is well, I guess this applies to her too. OHFT's Chief Exec has also said that Drs Shaw and Bale have refused to deal with complaints since 2011, it took Stuart Bell over two years to write that. Dr Shaw would not want to be sectioned, so she must know it is abusive and she says the ward staff are horrible - which they are. Her records also aren't accurate and she/OHFT will never amend. She is a very dishonest woman. I am a member of the public.
