I have seen Mr. Surjit Lidder on two occasions (both outpatients appointments) and both times he was very caring, interested and informative. His manner and demeanour is excellent and really serves to put the patient at ease.

I suffered a broken leg tendon and was fortunate to have Mr Surgit Lidder working on that night. He was exceptional in the way he looked after me and all the other patients in the orthopaedic casualty area. Despite an incredibly busy Friday night at the hospital with several anxious patients with complex needs, I was impressed by how this this Doctor went round and ensured we all got individual and caring attention despite his heavy workload. He was calm, professional, compassionate, and incredibly reassuring and put me at ease. He arranged for me to have surgery later in the day and I was discharged within 24 hours. I am now recovering well. I can not thank him and his team enough for the excellent care I received.

Attended the Day Surgery Unit at the KCH Canterbury for left knee arthroscopy and received great care from KCH but now confused? At my initial out patient appointment at the WHH Ashford when I saw a different doctor working under consultant Mr M.C Oliver it was explained to me that the arthroscopy was part of the diagnostic process and that further treatment may be required. On the 4th May 2016 attended KCH for the arthroscopy which was duly carried out by Mr Lidder and then attended a follow up appointment with him about a month later and was assured that if I continued to be in any pain or discomfort to contact orthopaedics to make a further appointment. Some five or six weeks later and still in considerable pain and discomfort I tried to book myself back to find that I had been discharged from Mr Oliver's/Mr Lidder's care and I would now have to be treated as new patient, meaning going back my G.P for another referral and having to wait a great deal longer to be seen again. That paragraph is an understatement because communications by phone with the trust are anything but easy and getting through the automated system and finally getting to speak to a human being I found very frustrating together with being given wrong information in the first place. So here I am still in pain and discomfort, still waiting for another out patient appointment in the mean time cannot sleep comfortably and cannot run my business properly. I also found Patient Liaison a total waste of time because they do not respond to emails despite me giving them an update. Improvements. 1. Simplify the telephone system. 2. Monitor voice mail input because most of the time staff do not respond to them. 3. My Discharge Notification given to me on the 4th May. Was that just a discharge notice from the KCH Day Surgery unit or from Mr Olivers/Mr Lidder's care? 4. WHEN AM I GOING TO GET MY NEXT APPOINTMENT.

Response from Mr Surjit Lidder

Dear NS, Thank you for your feedback. I apologise that you have had problems in contacting the department. I have highlighted this and a new urgent appointment will be organised. Kind regards, Surjit

I attended the follow up appointment after a total knee replacement with Mr Surjit Lidder at Willliam Harvey Hospital 2016 I found Mr. Lidder very pleasant who listened and explained in full and supplied information I did not know and advised me well. I did not feel rushed or that I was just another patient my mind was put at ease with regard to how my surgery had gone.

Mr Lidder explained in a full but, also in a simple way so I was able to relate to what the treatment was going to acheive. He was very polite and sympathetic and when I had my follow up appointment he gave good advise on some lifestye changes. I would like to thank all of the staff for making this a good experience.
