Horrific 3 years under the care of Dr Chander, who lacks understanding of, or interest in, seronegative spondylo-arthropathies. He persistently reported my scan findings were mild, and insisted I had “sensitisation to pain” / fibromyalgia advising I use Voltarol gel on my swollen, painful joints and tendons. He refused to advance my treatment or pain management in spite of my worsening symptoms and ever-increasing disabilities, applying sero-positive RA criteria to my scan results and clinical management instead of seronegative. He insisted that because some of my symptoms were somewhat asymmetric, that the inflammation was mechanical in nature, again displaying a poor understanding of spondylo-arthritis. Every time I saw or spoke to him, I left feeling dismissed and undermined. I became desperate and severely depressed under his care and would advise against anybody with seronegative arthritis seeing him. I wish I had sought a second opinion much earlier - it would have saved me a lot of suffering.

I saw Dr Chandler in 2016 for the beginning of my health issues and joint problems. He failed to properly screen me to national guidelines for diagnosis of the condition I have (just assuming I didn’t have it despite listing an associated condition without screening for it either), likely dismissing my problems as I was 16 at the time and female. I have since been correctly diagnosed and am now specialist care, however this failure to listen to a younger patient and the dismissal of my symptoms has lead to likely permanent damage and the worsening of symptoms due to non treatment in the further 3 years before my correct diagnosis.

I refer to Dr Chander because he is an excellent rheumatologist and is excellent at following up his patients and liaising with me. A real pleasure to work with

Dr Chander has been my Rheumatologist for some time now. For years I had been suffering from pain in my back and joints and after numerous high inflammatory marker blood tests I was referred to Dr Chander by my GP. It was life changing to be eventually diagnosed and given the correct treatment. I have always found him to be extremely knowledgeable and helpful and would not hesitate to recommend him.

I have found that Dr Chander has been attentive and understanding towards the problems that I face with my RA. He explains in detail about the medication that I am taking and the side effects they can cause leaving me the choice to proceed or take a different route. He also has called me by phone when I have experienced problems with the medication and the effect it is having. A very kind, sympathetic Consultant who understands the effect RA has on its victims. I am very grateful to him for his care.
