My appointment was punctual and unhurried and the doctor was pleasant and attentive. I particularly credited he looked at me and my problem much more than his terminal! An optometrist had said one of my eyes was now ready for a cataract op, and the insurance company who pay a sum for you to pay privately or to keep if you wait 4 months for NHS, require a GP to endorses the claim form. However Dr Schulz thought my quality of life was not impaired sufficiently and I was able to on my own initiative read half the letters on an eye chart across the room. Although depressed as I'd like to get this over with and maybe see better, he did say return if I was having difficulty later. You cannot be sure if NHS wants GPs to ration cataract referrals, and pressures them to do so, but I will not reduce his score for this.
