Dr Khan is probably one of the most approachable Drs I have had the privilege to meet and having had Rheumatoid Arthritis since I was 7 and osteoarthritis since my teens I have met a few! Her ‘bedside’ manner is great! Honest and open would be the way I would describe it. Dr Khan has been my rheumatologist for the last 10 years and throughout that time she has not only demonstrated how incredibly knowledgeable she is but also how much she passionately cares (in buckets by the way) about my health and well-being. Over the years we tried various treatment combinations to control my symptoms and when these didn’t achieve the results that I needed Dr Khan managed to get me funding for anti TNF treatment. This represented a breakthrough for me and rheumatoid wise I have been the wellest I have been for many years. When I visited Dr Khan for a routine appointment to check on my progress in October last year I broke down in her office because I was in a really bad way. I was suffering severe pain in my hip, shoulder and elbows. Dr Khan immediately checked on my rheumatoid factors and ordered X-rays. Then when all results were in made referrals to other specialists. I have never felt rushed by Dr Khan, it has always been my experience that she really wants to hear about how my condition is behaving; and she has unfailingly listened, then provided her considered advice and initiated potential solutions. I feel very lucky to have found her and would not hesitate to commend her as a Rheumatologist.

Dr Khan is everything you need in a rheumatologist. Knowledgeable, empathetic warm and kind. She really took the time to listen to me and her treatment and management of my care really focused on me ‘as a whole person’. Her passion for caring for others just shines through. I just can’t speak highly enough of her.

Dr Khan gave me the impression of being "on the clock" and gave me insufficient time to explain my condition. I had little in the way of physical examination, though I did get the impression she was knowledgeable in her primary area of expertise. I was concerned about the letters Dr Khan has written to my GP, the content of which appears to pass off comments I have made, or the results of historic examinations, as either new or ongoing "diagnoses".

I first met Dr Sophia Khan back in 2014, when I had been suffering from a mysterious and incredibly debilitating issue with an infection causing chronic Arthritic symptoms throughout my body. I had traveled globally (Job perks) trying to find a diagnosis and a Doctor that would listen to my symptoms and could help me. The pain was 12/10 and I was having to self medicate very, very heavily even to stand up my feet. I continued to endure this level of pain night and day for over 6 months, self medicating on levels that weren't advised, simply to get through the day and try and bring in an income. After an initial consultation and some homework on her part im sure, she turned my life round within a few days. I was 33 at the time and I feared my quality of life was over, effectively disabled. Many other Doctors had wanted to put me on life changing drugs, but I had no time for that! I was a very fit young man, and what had come on effectively over night, I was sure had to have a logical answer and treatment. She listened, she was not at all arrogant, she recognised some validity in my assumptions, and credibility within my own appraisal. Upon the second consultation, Dr Khan had made her diagnosis, explained it thoroughly to me and treated me there and then. That morning I had been house bound, unable to even lift myself from my chair that had then become my prison. The pain to weight bare was excruciating and had left me immobile. Within 10 minutes of Dr Khan administrating the treatment I was a new man, the unbelievable pain had gone as quickly as it had wrecked havoc on my life!!! During that awful time, a time in which I had gone from a very capable athlete to an old man over night. She had been the only Doctor to have listened to me, validated what I was reporting back to her and investigate accordingly. She diligently continued to monitor my recovery over the next month or so, by which time the symptoms had completely reverted. She also ensured I had a answer as to what the hell had happened to me. Fast forward to present (10/2021) and I have been suffering from another debilitating problem, one which now threatens my livelihood and the security of my family. I have not slept well in 18 months, specialist after specialist after specialist, drug treatments that have had no effect. Low moods and fake smiles have become my mantra, but the daily 6/10 pain (9/10 during sleep) and lack of mobility have taken their toll, and I was starting to become very concerned as to how long I could bluff my way through. Who should ring me out the blue, Dr Sophia Khan. My file has once more crossed her desk....the joy I felt was overwhelming. At last, instantly I knew this doctor would believe what I'm telling her, empathise with my situation and listen to what I think is going on. But I didn't need to!!! she had obviously seen my file, MRI scans, X-rays etc, she gave me my diagnosis straightaway. I didn't have a clue what it was as I've never heard of it, but she describe it thoroughly, the symptoms and characteristics were all spot on and despite me never actually telling her she knew them all. Looking back now this diagnosis/illness has been with me for at least 15 years, weird things that had seen me hospitalised with no real answer. Whilst the diagnosis is not ideal, the relief I have now going forward is huge, I have a million percent confidence that Dr Khan has indeed diagnosed this correctly and this now empowers me. With her help and treatment, I will take back my life, get super active once more and keep my career. Dr Sophia Khan for me, has literally been the best Doctor in the world, and I assure you I've travelled about quite a bit. Thank you so much Dr Khan for being such a competent professional, staying humble and listening as you do!! Huge thank you Jon R
