Dr Simon Travis

I am a local GP and often refer patients to gastroenterology- NHS and private. It is a busy speciality with a wide range of conditions from the non-serious but unpleasant to the very serious- so there are long waiting lists for 'routine' problems and occasionally patients with undiagnosed serious illness can get delayed in the routine category. Prof Travis has been brilliant- he doesn't miss anything and is good at considering underlying causes. He gives excellent advice to colleagues and is always extremely helpful. He is ready to prioritise patients for whom there is a clear medical need, cutting through bureaucracy when needed. He answers emails quickly and at all hours and is, in my experience, never wrong (which is pretty much impossible in medicine). He is just fab and all a GP can ask for from a specialist.

I have been diagnosed with ulcerative colitis and have suffered for over 20+ years with this disease. I could not be more grateful to Professor Travis for the care he and his team has provided as I am quite certain his knowledge of both the disease and meds has saved me from having a colostomy bag and has managed to keep me in remission for most of these years.

Listened to me, explored all avenues and didn't make me feel "stupid". Would highly recommend.
