Shamik Basu is a GP who masquerades as a dermatologist. He has extremely poor communication skills and lacks basic dermatology knowledge. If you’re given a dermatology appointment with him I would strongly advise you refuse it and ask to see an actual dermatologist. I would score him a zero if I had the option.

I came here with my son who suffers with acne. We have been under the derma team for a few months but it was the first time we had seen this doctor. He stood up throughout the entire, rushed consultation and was clearly stressed and agitated. He didn’t listen to a word we were saying and completely undermined everything that previous doctors had told us. He was so negative about my sons treatment that we left feeling completely deflated. We have a follow up appointment due in a few weeks time and if it is with him I will be changing it. It seemed to me like he needed to take a long holiday and learn some people skills.

We were referred to this dermatologist from our GP for our son’s problems with his skin. My son has never had any issues with his skin from birth until he turned 14 when he suddenly got rashes. This doctor rushed us through a 4 minute appointment and diagnosed my son having eczema and barely listened to my concerns about it appearing more of a fungal infection . We waited almost 3 months for a follow up appointment even though the lotions he prescribed didn’t work at all and made his condition worse. At the follow up appointment today - he said it may actually be a fungal infection but then prescribed more eczema medication & once again wouldn’t listen to my husband’s concerns . Terrible service
