Had an ablation yesterday and Dr Shanaz was great explains everything clearly and calmly , I had had cancellation a few weeks before with a different surgeon not his fault but I would thoroughly recommend this lady. She came to see me on the ward and clearly outlined how it had gone and discharge notes clear and concise. If you want a brill cardiologist see here.

Dr JC has been my consultant for the last 6 months of a journey that started almost 3 1/2 years ago with non ischemic dilated cardiomyopathy. In simple terms a heart failure brought about by an infection (suspected links to early Covid). My case was prolonged, with aborted procedures and scans - due to administrative errors - difference of opinions and the impacts of a National Heath service strained by a worldwide pandemic By Early 2023 I was growing increasingly concerned that time was passing and a long term prognosis (whilst apparently more favourable than at the beginning of 2020) just didn’t seem to be becoming any clearer or justified with evidence. I felt a little ‘adrift’ on a sea of uncertainty, with no compass or guide. This all changed in February 2023 from a single consult following an equipment failure on admission for a procedure. Emotions and tensions high, I was listened to by Dr JC and her team (my first audience with them since my case was passed to them) and a plan was drawn together. I’m not going to set Dr JC on a pedestal (which she rightly deserves - don’t tell her this) but the plan has been executed down to the last detail culminating with a VT ablation in July and I’m now left with hope. I’m not the most worthy patient - there are others that have bigger hills to climb than I do, but I’m grateful for the Trent Cardiac team and their leading consultants for being on my side turning this case around and helping me with my treatment. It’s worthy to say that whilst in recovery the ACU the team were so attentive. I don’t think I was left beyond 20 seconds before someone answered a bed call (night or day) and always with a supportive and caring manner. When I thanked Dr JC for the attention on my case in a follow up consultation, I was corrected that it was no special circumstance - this WAS the standard! These reviews are testament to this and I had to share my experiences. Thanks everyone from the Left AND Right side of my heart ❤️ !!!

This doctor has saved my husbands life! It’s as simple as that. As a family we trust her completely. If things can be fixed she will make sure it’s fixed. My husband is so incredibly special to all of us, he is our strength. The teams that work with her are pretty amazing too! We are very sure we couldn’t have been better looked after. Thank you from all of us

2 years ago I seemed to be a perfectly healthy person living my life to the full. My husband and I were just embracing the first few months of our retirement. Then tragically and totally unexpectedly, he died whilst doing what he loved, playing a round of golf. Within 36 hours of that happening, I woke up on the floor during the night. My heart was pounding and I was breathless. I went to A&E and after many hours my heart slowed down to a manageable pace. A&E told me it might happen again or it may just be a one off. 6 subsequent visits to A&E I decided to contact the Nuffield hospital who referred me to Shahnaz Jamil -Copley. She listened to everything I said and explained the issue in terms which I could understand. She even sketched a drawing which was extremely helpful as I have zero medical knowledge. She also organised for me to wear a heart monitor which captured the events. I even purchased a kadia heart monitor for my own use and piece of mind. I was diagnosed with atrial flutter, which shahnaz carried out a painless ablation procedure to correct. She explained the success rate and reasons why and also the percentage chance to then go on to develop atrial fibrillation. I was unlucky and went on to develop A Fib. I called Shahnaz during an episode and left her a message. She rang me back within 15 minutes. She told me to start taking my meds again and she would perform an AFib procedure as soon as possible, which she did. At all times I really felt she was there for me. After the healing time from the procedure was complete ,I was able to stop taking the medication but I was too anxious to stop. Shahnaz listened and understood my fears. So we agreed together to keep on the meds until I felt ready. I had regular follow up appointments to see how I was and to talk through my fears. Today is my 58th day without any meds. The first few weeks I felt like I was going to relapse but didn’t. Shahnaz explained that my heart has been controlled by drugs for a couple of years and so is not to be unexpected. She also discussed taking steps with cardiovascular exercise. I have now joined a gym which I go to 6 days a week and generally walk the 3 mile round trip to and from it. I honestly feel the best I’ve felt in over a couple of years. I just want to say a massive thank you shahnaz, I feel like you’ve held my hand all the way and given me my life back and for that I am beyond grateful. If reading my journey gives even the slightest glimmer of hope to another person, I will be truly happy. Just remember, there really is a light at the end of this dark tunnel when you’ve got Shahnaz fighting your corner

Dr Jamil-Copley has a special interest in mapping and ablation of atrial fibrillation (AF) and ventricular tachycardia (VT). She is an Honorary Assistant Professor at the University of Nottingham and currently actively researching best techniques for ventricular scar characterisation, risk prediction models for VT and computational modelling to guide VT ablation using cardiac MRI. She is also the local principal investigator for several trials investigating the use of therapeutic drugs and 3-D mapping tools in the management of arrhythmias.
