Dr Shahid Ahmad

Dr Shahid Ahmad has worked as Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist at the East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust over 20 years. He holds the Fellowship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and is on GMC Specialist Register. He is section 12 approved under the Mental health Act. DR Ahmad has extensive experience in the assessment and management of a wide range of child & adolescent mental health and neurodevelopmental disorders, including, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Tourette’s syndrome, Anxiety/Depressive Disorders, School refusal / truancy, Drug / drink abuse and PTSD. Dr Ahmad has been trained in Family Therapy at the Institute of Family Therapy, London. Dr Ahmad has a special interest in young people with ADHD. He believes that successful treatment of ADHD can change the trajectory of young people's lives and they can achieve their full potential. He works closely with parents, education and GP. At present DR Ahmad is only focusing on ADHD cases. Dr Ahmad has extensive clinical knowledge and skills in treating young people with ADHD medication. He believes in keeping low and go slow, and always makes sure that the least effective dose is being used, and young person is closely monitored. Dr Ahmad has done ADHD presentations at the Local, Regional, National and International level, and he has been actively involved in teaching and training of medical students, GP’s and psychiatry trainees.
