Dr Thompson has been a pleasure to attend as he is a proper gentleman. He has a very calm, sincere mannerism that enabled my 3 year old daughter and myself to feel very at ease and listened to. My daughter was due an examination which I was very concerned about but truly Dr. Thompson's professionalism was a pleasure and refreshing. Our second visit 6 months later was just as the first, a very positive experience in every way. He has a great bunch of nurses that compliment his work.

My daughter attended Dr Thompson. With each appointment I found him to be courteous from the very minute he called us in until we walked out the door. Immediately you felt at ease, he was friendly, his manners were impeccable and has a very professional attitude. His communication skills with my daughter and myself were excellent, he asked her questions using language that she was able to comprehend and took on board all her answers, he listened attentively. He took a detailed history and noted all that I told him. His examination was extremely thorough and his findings were explained very well. I was completely satisfied with his diagnosis and have complete confidence in him as a competent medical practitioner. He has a very approachable manner and offered that at any time if I had any concerns regarding my daughter's condition to contact him. He did not rush the consultation, he gave my daughter and I the time that was needed. Definitely, in my view, he would be ranked a top paediatrician. He made me feel as parent of a child who was unwell, that my child's health truly did matter to him and that she wasn't just another number on his clinic list. It is obvious from his approach to his work that Dr Thompson enjoys his job and definitely this is a vocation for him rather than a career. Keep up the good work.....patients (and parents) need doctors like you!

I attended this Doctor at South Tyrone Hospital with my son having moved from another Trust area. Firstly, the treatment and expertise my son received from Dr Thompson was first class. He is extremely knowledgeable, thorough, reassuring and caring. I was extremely stressed out with my son's condition as it had carried on for some time untreated, whilst we lived in a different trust area. My son had been to see a different locum paediatrician every time he attended an appointment at the hospital there, therefore no one really got to know enough about his condition and I felt that no one really had an interest. This brings me to my second point. Having the South Tyrone hospital in Dungannon is very much needed and very much appreciated, especially for children and other vulnerable members of the community. Also, having paediatricians with clinics based there in my opinion has resulted in my son receiving the treatment he needed. The fact that there are established Doctors based at STH and not ever changing locum Doctors means that patients receive continuity of treatment and a more effective service. My son is now well on the mend and is exceeding my expectations and I can never be thankful enough to the team at South Tyrone Hospital.

Dr Thompson always treats my son with respect and asks his permission to carry out examinations and just doesn't ask me. He always explains things in simple terms and makes me feel comfortable about asking about issues my son is having. Dr. Thompson makes hospital visits alot easier for both my son and me. The best paediatrician we have attended, very friendly and excellent 'bed side'manner.
