Dr Samir Agrawal has been my consultant for almost a decade, guiding me through watch and wait for my CLL, then a chemotherapy trial which saw me in remission for almost 3 years and now onto targeted oral chemotherapy. His no nonsense approach is exactly what I need, when I ask the question 'what can I do to stay well' he puts forward suggestions but leaves the final decision to me. He is forward thinking embracing new ways of working, new technology and most of all the latest medical advances in this once incurable condition. He lectures and teaches around the world and shares his knowledge and experience with other like-minded professionals. Dr Samir is professional and very kind, listening to patients concerns though his clinic often runs over, but that is a given because as patients we sometimes need a little more explanation. The clinical nurses are on hand in clinic and via email or mobile throughout the week (though I would try not to phone and interrupt their work) and will get back with an answer as soon as they can. Almost without exception all the staff at Barts haematology oncology department from consultants, registrars, clinical nurses, receptionists and the lovely people who come with refreshments on the chemo day ward, are wonderful. A huge thank you, you are never taken for granted.
