Was seen within 30 mins of phoning up with Hemoptysis. Dr first calmed wife and I down then proceeded to ask obvious questions and carry out stethoscope procedures , blood, pressure and pulse, making appropriate bed/ chair side comments. Reassured us that nothing was imminent ! Then asked the elephant in room question ? "What did I think problem might be ?" Obvious answer from a smoker ! She then proceeded to find quickest possible routes to Chest X Rays etc. "Two pronged attack from GP and patient !" She set up blood tests just in case and timetabled appointment for after X rays. First time I had met her, she knew my history well and was a consummate professional. Well done
